You may well be right Sean.
I was two years older than that group (played for Sheffield Boys U15 in 67/68).
Alan Hill does ring a bell...
Roy Hill was a Hinde House lad I think?

Roy was yes, as was Alan, and Gary Parker.

When Roy first joined United as an apprentice, one of our all time greats told me he could go all the way, so impressive was he at 15/16.
Hinde House had a knack of producing good sports teams. At my age group their basketball team was unbeatable.

But not at cricket, Bert's Ecclesfield team was all conquering.
Hinde House had a black lad, wicket keeper, a right gobby sod. Nearly a punch up during play.

Have to say Bert, in my age group, we, (Abbeydale Grammar) always had the edge over Ecclesfield Grammar. Despite them having some good football and cricketers that year group.

Bert still has the certificates somewhere in his garage, went through winning everything U13 (Barber Sheild? ) U15 Stokes Sheild, U16, and First X1.
One lad, Steven Stuchberry fast bowler played for Yorkshire.
He was dangerous on those poor wickets, no helmets etc. He cracked one lad on the side of the head once and Bert was convinced that the lad was dead.
Happy days.

Great days Bert! Barber and Stokes shields, I remember well.
At U15 we won the 6 a side cricket tournament played at Myers Grove that year (68), still have the certificate.
I first encountered Steve Stuchberry at Whitley Hall where he was a tiny 13 year old playing in the Sheffield CA U18 league. I played for Frecheville and we had a real strong team with some of us playing Yorkshire Council cricket on Saturdays.
Stuchberry was handed the ball to open their bowling and we sniggered as this tiny lad ran into bowl his first delivery at our opener who opened for the 1st team on Saturdays (York's Council).
He never saw it! Played and missed then out the following delivery...
I was shitting myself by the time I went in at 9 and Stuchberry had reduced us to 50 for 7...
Followed his career from that point....and he grew quite a bit too!

Bert has just found a few relics.

Steve Guest! Pretty good all round sportsman!
A distant relative of Bert, he was an excellent footballer, Yorkshire Boys etc. Taught Maths later at Ecclesfield and has now retired.

Yep. There wasn't a single black kid at Ecclesfield so Bert remembers the Hinde House lad very well.

If the age group is the same as the Sheffield boys team sheet l know who it is. There were three black kids generally in the school team. A fast bowler who could bat a bit as well, and an off spinner.
