A strange one. Looks like mid to late1960s? Why would there be a Burnley flag and a Sheffield United flag be at Craven Cottage and the spectators looking the other way? Boat race in the Thames? Not United but a good photo. Anybody guess what's going on? View attachment 44418
Sorry, Great Central Railway (last mainline to be built, first to close, usual Beeching cockup), then LNER!Later rearranged as the LMS![]()

Did that used to be “Dean’s”?View attachment 44417
The last word in sophistication. Went to the Venus in Dinnington a few months ago, talk about time warp!
Did that used to be “Dean’s”?
I've had the Barnsley chop at Beatson House. Bloody awesome. Best Sunday lunch venue ever. Worth the trip out.Did that used to be “Dean’s”?
Did a damn good Barnsley chop in its day.
Best “authentic” one I’ve had since then is Beatson House at Cawthorne near Barnsley.
There was a cafe in that block. You used to go in and order your food, take a drink, then go and sit down and wait till the waitress came round with your food. They didn’t give you an order number, or a table number, or even take your name. They just shouted out the dish, “steak pie and chips?” and you put your hand up and they delivered it to your table, no questions asked.
So it was you who ate my meal![]()
In the early 1970s my dad would always park his car in Asline Road , Holland Road or Colver Road just before the start of our home games which is the top centre of the photo. Parking in Holland Road or Colver Street before matches nowadays is very restricted. When was it when Asline Road became a no parking zone?

We bought many a coffee in there and had a free meal. The trick was to gulp it down quick and get out before the poor sod who’d paid for it realised it was his!
Bad form obviously - but great fun!![]()
The guy in the middle looking away looks like an old mate of mine Andy Hickson. The guy with the cords on could even be me.The Stonehouse.
