It shouldn't do but that just sounds wrong.
No fucking wonder shorts were preferred in that era

At the risk of offending anyone who used to stand at the Bramall Lane end, they used to be regarded as miserable old gits. When Utd kicked the wrong way (Kop first half), lots of people walked round by the cricket pavilion to stand behind the Bramall Lane goal in the second half. It was made clear to those of us arriving with rattles and intent on chanting and making a noise that we were not welcome - we were disturbing the peace and quiet. So when you young 'uns complain about the oldies not making enough noise nowadays, we do understand. A couple of Werthers usually unblocks the tubes, but if not... do be patient. The current Bramall Lane stand was started in 1965. I vaguely remember the old BL stand - quite shallow, probably only 25 to 30 steps and an old tin roof. When they pulled it down prior to starting work on the current stand we played (I think) Leicester one winter. The away fans lit a fire with the timbers still lying around.
Not sure it was a shop more of an wholesale outlet at the top end of Cambridge St., just above the Sportsman(Tap & Tankard). There was an arched entrance, for vehicles to enter a courtyard, to the right side of this inside the arched entrance, a doorway leading up very steeps wooden steps and that's where Lillywhite Frowd traded, only a plaque at the side of said doorway to show where they were.View attachment 31816 View attachment 31816
I'll see you your scarf and raise you a running vest. Found these in a part of the wardrobe I've not been in for years. Thought I was going to end up in Narnia.
The scarf has still got a bloody name tag stitched to it, same as the one that got me in trouble earlier in the thread.
The vest has a makers tag of Lillywhite Frowd who were a major sports good manufacturer. I'm sure they had a shop in Sheffield but for the life of me I can't recall where it was
That's where I asked Mrs Sitwell for our first date back in 1990 ,there was also a big scrap with Wendy in there a couple of years earlier when a well known Blade got glassed pretty badly.Spent many a Friday & Sat night drinking here in my early drinking days remember watching Barry McGuigan bt Eusebio Pedroza in there to win world title , it was rammed to rafters and atmosphere was like being at the fight .
Used to be loads in there I knew and always a good sprinkling of fanny View attachment 31911

Late 70s we had a tidy little crew on the lane end well behaved lads all of usAt the risk of offending anyone who used to stand at the Bramall Lane end, they used to be regarded as miserable old gits. A couple more interesting photos from a 1971 programme vs watford with a few clips from the game against cardiff a few days earlier, both of which I saw as a kid. Was a terrific era and we were promoted and faced Arsenal away in the first match of the next season and we won 1-0 and were top of the old first division (now premiership) for several weeks until that fateful match at old trafford and that bloody george best goal they show on TV all too often.

And Colin FranksJust started this thread, brilliant.
Three future United players in that Watford team : Franks, Eddy and Scullion. I'm up to post 200 and not mentioned yet!!
Yes and we had a recipe in those days of if any played half decent against us from Watford and others we'd try and buy them for tuppence a few days after, which worked for a while...Others have pointed out my time line on the Arsenal game was wrong, it was later, but these times still rank as memories never to be forgotten as a blade, top of the top league ...for a whileJust started this thread, brilliant.
