Six of them including Jock DoddsObviously over indulged New Years Eve 1934,7-1,7 bloody one!!!!.
A lot of these lads will have gone on to play in the 1936 FA Cup final would`nt they?
Promotion 1984, Cockerill was signed on deadline dayPorterfield was already looking down at his feet saying .. eh I don't know in the pic .. but we had Glenn Cockerill pulling the strings then in midfield .. liked to leave it late with the promotion celebrations though .. I needed Imodium extra family pack at Burnley !! View attachment 29640
Yeh SB , quality player wish we'd signed Gordon Hobson also from Lincoln at same time he eventually went to So'ton for £100k as did Cockerill from us .. I was guttedPromotion 1984, Cockerill was signed on deadline day

An 'is it just me question?' I know plenty about United post-war, and quite a bit about United pre-WW1 (not as much as you though!); I know very little about them in the 1920s and 1930s (when my dad and grandad were watching them). Is this period generally less known, and if so, why? From left to right back row; Jock Dodds, Tommy Johnson, Harry Hooper, Roy John (Welsh international), Bill Anderson, Jack Pears, Alec Stacey.
Front row; Archie McPherson, Harold Barton, Bobby Barclay (English international), Harry Gooney, Billy Boyd (scored a hat trick against Wendy) and Jack Pickering

So did I, but you wouldn't have wanted them to spend good money on me.Gordon Hobson supported the Blades when he was a boy
Attendances had dropped because of the 1930s depression? I remember Denis Clareborough telling me that he found it hard to find photos from the 1920s. 1934-35 was our first season out of the top division in 41 years but I do not know much about that seasonAn 'is it just me question?' Does anyone remember Taggy's Ice-Cream van that used to do the rounds in Highfield and Heeley?
Couldn't find a photo of one so here's another local van....
