November 10th 1973. 2-2 draw (Woodward 2)If you are going to suggest 'Big Eddie' is the smallest one in the line, at least spell his name correctly.

Just thought it was worth it!Not sure that 3 months ago counts as 'old' but have a like anyway.
If only, we lost the semi. How about this one, of Gayle accepting 3 points from Anderson........View attachment 29437
Looks like it was taken from 'The White wall' it was a great view from there

Jeez, look at all them pillars, good job snowflakes hadn't been invented then.
Those barriers were life-savers whenever we scored!Bottom row of pillars, 2nd one in, there was a barrier just up and beyond it. We always stood just there. A good view of the infamous Kop trench on that pic as well.
If we were to have a poll (excuse the pun) for the best photo on this 200+ post thread then I think you've just won first prize SEB.
The Ledge
Clearly visible, my home from home every match in my schooldays
You're right Fred, it's all about the memories - there were about fifteen of us from school (HSGS) who rocked up every week at about two o'clock to get "our spot", if you didn't turn up it was assumed that you'd died.....The Ledge brings back memories to me of getting in the ground early to get a place on the ledge in front of the barriers on the bend, wearing a Parka(white fur round the hood),and eating jam sandwiches brought from home,as well as being the place i saw the 70/71 promotion season from

Saw some rough stuff over the years, but we had some animals from the rugby team in our gang, and we could safely leave them to it while we shared out the Park Drive and No.6 tipped. Some memorable moments, such as when someone pissed in Nasher's turnups, and when I got hit by a Dunlop Maxply, but happy days with a great set of lads who loved United, and still do to this day.
You can't fight anno domini, and some of those lads are no longer with us, but they'll always be remembered along with The Ledge..
And ne'er a thought about magnet or maggots back then.![]()
Four of us were usually on the Trent or Witham on Sundays, the others rugby or Sunday League football.
Maggots.....![]()
But on the Saturday before the game, they were all supping in a pub somewhere in the vicinity of the ground.
Magnet....![]()

You know him?
Who's the bloke in the suit on the left? He looks like an extra from Peaky Blinders.
