Great player, one of the best CB's we've had even though he wasn't particularly tall or physical. It was all in the timing.

Does anyone remember Taggy's Ice-Cream van that used to do the rounds in Highfield and Heeley?
Couldn't find a photo of one so here's another local van....:)

Taggys....ahhh... I can still taste it even now..
A part of my childhood I'll not forget. Taggys on Sunday afternoon, he stopped at top of steps near our house on Myrtle Road and just banged a huge spoon on top of his fridge lid (days before musical chimes).
When I got married we lived our first couple of years on Spencer Road, just across from Taggys shop on View Rd, heaven!

When you think about it we were blessed. Within a stones throw of BDTBL we had Taggy's, Manfredi's, Granelli's and Henderson's relish. No wonder those miserable twats at S6 have a chip on their shoulder.

Interesting. What's going on in this picture? Weighing scales in a shop is it?
index.php

Its the only photo I can find of the lady who guessed your weight in the old open Sheaf?? market.

I am 53 and can just remember sitting on the scales while she put weights on the other end.

Does anyone else remember this?

Round our way it was Joe`s Ices, snowball with a bubbly in the bottom, ruddy marvellous
Joe's did the rounds around our's as well.
One day I heard a cacophony of ice-cream van music coming from outside & went to buy one. Joe's and Taggy's both angrily drove down our street at the same time for the same customers, got out of their vans and squared up to each other. No fists were exchanged, but neither sold any ice-creams either, because we were too scared to buy any after that.

............we'll see enough behaviour from SYPD this season where they'll deliberately foment trouble in high-risk games.
Really? The police will deliberately seek to cause trouble? I highly doubt that. We shall see who is proved correct in the future.

That would have been An(toni) Molinari son of old Joe. Strange to think the boss is now called John McNeill who married into the family.

My brothers (Spuds for some reason) used to play with the Molinari kids. Had no idea they were Italians. Although owning an ice cream van when the competition was called Granellis and Manfredis should have been a big tipoff...
