Some blasts from the past in that team photo ST , Toddy I'd forgot about him used to have a flat above a shop down our way , can you imagine that now a pro footballer renting a flat ?? And I don't meant a penthouse!

Was that near the Parkway just up from the White Rose?

Including Alan "it's all too much for me" Roberts.

Although God knows what Paul Williams is doing in a photograph of professional footballers. One of life's mysterues I suppose.

Lad next to Chris,Martin Dickenson was highly rated, played in first game away at Brentford, but hardly played after that game, then he had to retire because of a neck injury i think it was

Remember going down to Ashton Gate for the play off & losing 1-0 and thinking were in in shit now & proved right when Carl Shutt ( another lad from our way ) scoring against in draw in return .
12 months later Harry worked wonders with by his own admission took a gamble on a £10k forward from Donnie & another bit part forward from Watford he'd had and how far they'd take us in next two years .. returned back to Ashton Gate 12 months for last away game in promotion party , everyone pissed , happy & in fancy dress .. what a difference a year makes & the miracles Mr Bassett produced :)

He was introduced to the crowd before the game at Rotherham with Stancliffe

Looks like one of the most disappointing cup games I've been to at the lane. 1959 and a 6th round 1-1 home draw against 3rd division giant killers Norwich City. We couldn't beat them despite Billy Russell scoring in the 2nd minute and their goalkeeper playing with an injured arm (no substitutes back then). We lost the replay 3-2 at Carrow Road and they went on to lose to Luton in the semi's after another replay. I think that was the first time I felt the feeling of bitter disappointment something that I have become increasingly used to in 'big' matches over the years.

Kicked off one night in there with the Bikers ( Druids) what a battle
Made the front page of the Star

Tell me about it! Me and two mates got arrested over an on-going 'feud' with the Druids. The idea that they were a 'biker' gang is laughable. They were just a bunch of loppy cunts who travelled on buses! However, me and my mates ended up in West Bar nick and the cops showed us the weapons they were carrying - machetes, flick knives etc. Naturally, we were cleared of all charges...

Norwich's keeper Ken Nethercott never played again after that match. His shoulder got dislocated in about the 60th minute but his shoulder never got right

Bert also went in the Football Special, station right next to the ground.
Went on the Football Special to Birmingham and to Pompey (Cup) too. Think the only two other occasions I went on the Train Special were Carlisle (Cup) and Arsenal (Leagueliner) in 1973. Usually went on the Branson coaches organized by Dronfield SUSC branch for away matches between 1971 and 1974

Bert went to the Carlisle game on the Special, also quite a few others games but his memory can't remember which ones right now.
