My dad was born about 50yds from there in terraces that have long since gone. My grandad (pig but still my grandad) lived in one of the high rises until his death in 96.
Fish and chips, pints of tea, then a stroll down to the Lane for pints of something stronger. Memories are made of this. ...
the Post Office moved into the basement? The basement is Godforsaken - the selling off and abandonment of the old Post Office buildings is a pathetic by-product of privatisation. The GPO at Fitzalan Square survived by the skin of its teeth but it makes a better Post Office than it does College.

I couldn't agree more. It was criminal what Sheffield City Council did allowing what must have been a listed building to be demolished! My old school too mate, was there 1972 to 1976. A truly marvelous building and an absolute tragedy what happened to the place.

Wincobank, looks like the photo was taken from the Tinsley viaduct might even be in the 80's the platforms for the old Wincobank station are gone by the look of it. The new Meadowhall station would be built further south of where the rear of the train is.Leander at Brightside? mid to late 70's i'd guess.
Played for Sheffield Deaf from 1979 to the mid 1980s and I was the secretary for some of the years. Our home pitch was pitch number 1 at Concord Park. Have played at Steel City ground quite a few timesWho played footie in this place..........Concord Park?
I played for The Horseshoe across the road for many years and Concord was our home for donkeys years until we moved across the road to the Steel City ground . The Steel City clubhouse was demolished last year after vandalism left it in ruins.

What school? If we're doing schools, here's mine. With sneaky shot of the infamous inflated sports hall, with double door airlock access. Great in principle, but it was always getting slashed.
