Not Sheffield United but hard to beat this as a photo taken in a split second.

October 1968 when George Best had a tache that lasted only a few weeks. Around that time he was the best man at Mike Summerbee's wedding

Not so handful in that match in Sept 1973. We won 3-1. He was one of the best strikers in the land in the early 1970s but wasnt as good from 1973 onwards
Wasn't it 2-1? Think woody got his 100th goal in that match.... We won 3-1 away at Spurs the following season

Spurs signed Chivers from Southampton. They also had Ron Davies up front. Can't recall if Chivers and Davies played together but that would have been some strike force.

Yes, and Jim Bone got the winner. Here is what the Green Un reported on Woody's goal

GOAL - v Spurs (a) 15.9.73. Woodward scored to complete 100 League goals for the club, and although he has certainly scored many more spectacular goals, I question whether he has shown such remarkable skill and calmness as he did for this one. Tottenham's defence got itself into a mess and Salmons was quick to pick up a loose ball and push it to Woodward out on the left inside the penalty area. The winger had an opponent with him, Jennings coming out and with almost no room Woodward curved the ball cleverly across the front of Jennings and watched it clip the foot of an upright and bounce gently over the line. Sir Alf Ramsey, a man not often known to show his appreciation, was at the match and he was overheard commenting to somebody at half time that Woodward's goal was "magnificent".

Wasn't Ron Davies and Billy Dearden joint top scorers early 70s in Division 1

If Ramsey had the sense to pick Woody for the Poland match the following month then history would have been re-written. Tomasweski (?) wouldn't have had a chance against Woody. He would have made him look like a clown.

Wonder if he ever reflected on not selecting him for England.

Reminds me of getting caught up in the thick of things after playing Spurs in '74 with my Dad and Brother who was only 8 at the time ...just approaching the shop after the game when it all kicked off..we were trying to get out of the way and got stuck in the doorway as the shopkeeper was trying to bolt the door...lost 1-0,John Duncan scored for them.
