Had my first drink in the Turf Tavern at Handsworth. Tetley Bitter when it was a decent pint :)

Must have been a bloody long time ago, can't ever remember Tetleys being a good pint :D. Had to be John Smiths for me, although there weren't that many Smiths houses on the Shiregreen when I was growing up.

We used to go in the Cricket Inn and the Belle View some dinner times when I worked nearby. One lunch time it got a bit tasty in the Belle View, the local pool hot shot was in beating everyone some of the workmates wanted a game so it was go on Trev knock him off for us (I was good at pool and also runner up in the Moorfoot snooker club knock out). Well the guy had one shot and missed scattering balls all over, perfect for me to clear the table. It didn't go down too well he snapped his cue in two threw it across the room kicked a table over and flounced out of the boozer, even the locals were pissing themselves laughing at him.

We lived on the Hyde Park flats overlooking the dog track,my dad used to take us there on Sunday dinners, also my ex bro in law and his family were there every time there was a meeting,a big and we'll known family from the Wybourn.
I used to box at that youth club under flats near the Target boozer.
Henry Hall was the trainer

I've never seen a badge like that. Anyone know anything about it? Was it the forerunner to the current badge?

It does look a bit menacing and like the skull and cross bones. Not that there's owt wrong with that!
That is the old badge before this one which has been in operation for many years.

It's supposed to have been designed by Jimmy Hagan. It looks so much like the current badge that I can't believe the current one isn't based on it.

if you lower the crossed swords a bit and put them in a circle, it IS the current badge on those blazers from the early 1960s.

But they didn't use it on the football shirts until 1977/'78 season I don't think. Until the mid seventies, the badge on the shirts was the Sheffield Coat of Arms . I think there is a possibility that the supporters club used the current crossed swords badge before 1977 too..... but I may well be wrong, we used to have a big rectangular badge with SUSC in the corners.
