Can I just say a big thank you for all the contributions to this thread. Some marvelous memories, especially the 'power cut' match when we beat West Ham. I wagged school to go to the game and told the teacher I'd been off with a bad nosebleed. He asked if I'd got it from being hit by the ball as his wife was at the game and saw me jumping up and down when we scored.
Didn't get done for wagging it, he was a huge Norwich fan so he understood but he did tell me not to lie in future. A good lesson learned.
The Arsenal pic was in January 1972. We lost 5-0 and Alan Ball wound us up by sitting on the ball. Scorers were George 2, Graham, Simpson and Kennedy. Kennedy was Bill Shankly's last signing at Liverpool in 1974.I originally thought the Arsenal pic was the 5-0 cup defeat in '78,which I was at,but not sure it is as Malcolm MacDonald was no.9 and that looks like maybe Charlie George not Supermac...also not sure Ray Kennedy played in the Cup game.
Bottom one is the 1-1 v City 1972....Silent?

I can't recall which poster mentioned this previously, but once the decision was made to evict cricket form the Lane, the lack of vision to turn the pitch 90 degrees is absolutely staggering. Sheffield in a microcosm.
A crowd at the Lane. Is that Gillespie?
