Shame the ref spotted the "hand of god" style effort for the hat trick.Wendy 2 (Eustace, Fantham) Blades 2 (Birchenall 2). 12th March 1966. Munks (right) and Matthewson the Blades players. Ford (in front) and Hill the Wendy players
When did that happen? Who scored first etc? It states in the bible that it was 1-1 at half timeShame the ref spotted the "hand of god" style effort for the hat trick.
Marples. What a dump that was. All the old timers who drank in town. Some scary characters as well.
Was googling for info on Brian Hill the Wendy player in the above photo. He played football in Belgium (Club Brugge) and committed suicide in 1968.Wendy 2 (Eustace, Fantham) Blades 2 (Birchenall 2). 12th March 1966. Munks (right) and Matthewson the Blades players. I got my seasons mixed up the season after we took a early 2-0 lead (Woodward & Jones) then to half the ground it looked like Birch made it 3-0 but the cross was a bit too high so he punched it in Maradonna style, the pigs has they do luckily pulled it back to 2-2.When did that happen? You'd have known Colin at CJ's then?
Did you go to Chattoo's ?
February 1972. Midweek afternoon kick off due to power cuts. 3-0 victory with a Billy hat trick as referred to earlier. Oddly that stand in the background doesn't look like the old John Street stand. Did we have advertising hoardings in 1972?

Yes, he went to Ecclesall Juniors and then High Storrs. More than once the Green Un mentioned him being a Blade fan when he was youngDidn't Steve Heighway support us when he was a lad.
Read a newspaper article where he wrote, he hoped to play for us one day.
