It was on South Street, the next road on towards Sheaf Street.

Somebody saw a commercial niche around 73/74 with the emergence of the Inter City Soul Club they had nights at the Top Rank they played those tracks and similar to what you stated.
Don't get me wrong I saw KC and the Sunshine Band live they were brilliant

Strong unintentional link here. Dave Godin owned a record shop in London. He was intrigued by all the football supporters from up t'north coming down at the weekend and searching his discs for the unknowns and B sides. When he realised it was the dance beat they were looking for he coined the phrase 'Northern Soul'. Now here comes the link - he left London moved up to South Yorkshire and managed the council run Anvil cinema.

He passed away several years ago.

If you stare really hard at the sheaf valley baths picture you can see Len Fairclough in the background showing his cock to some small children. Dirty bastard.
I don't know about that, but it was opened by Rolf Harris, he did the painting on the wall ( I think you can see it in the earlier picture). It was shite.

John "Kojak " Harvey. Sweet Sensation made an appearance at one of them but didn't perform.

They weren't good nights really, not compared to Sams and Leeds Central.
