Thanks, find this is so interesting!
I can still picture their line up on stage. Remember Mike died young. Happy days. Also happy memories of first division football at the Lane in the early 70s when we had skilful players ….the days of Hockey,Currie, Dearden etc etc.
Great memories of both football and music!
mike patto was a fantastic rock vocalist had some great sunday nights in the swan when they came up steeples was a genius finding all these london bands and was rewarded with sold out concert rooms every sunday in that era just a pity the beer was s**t (sam smiths) lol

The late Herbie Flowers contributed the bass, also played on David Essex's Rock On and was in Blue Mink, the last T. Rex lineup and Sky.
In the same piece about playing the drums on Walk On The Wild Side, I think John Halsey mentioned the bass part as well, though I don’t recall if he mentioned Herbie Flowers. The context was that there are two separate bass lines on the track, one electric, one double bass, as suggested by whoever the bass player was, which he did in order to get double payment. No idea if that’s true, but I’d like to think so 🙂
