Building the hole in the road?
Looks like it, I think the hole in the road was completed in 1968? Photo must be 1967?Building the hole in the road?
Still upset that they filled it in.They certainly would, Bert, from a slightly different angle. This photo dated 1967 making SB correct again with completion date of 1968.View attachment 136945

Me an'all. Tram could have gone over it or been routed differently. Authorities just gave up on it sad, and I live in Sheffield.Still upset that they filled it in.
All due respect BTL but Sheaf Market (Rag n' Tag) and Ponds Forge site are separated by Commercial St.View attachment 136995
hard to imagine its ponds forge now
I think this dealership had to make way for the Meadowhead roundabout (late 60s?) and moved further towards Chesterfield (Whittington Moor?). I could be wrong about that but I passed this place regularly on my way to/from school.
Yes, when it was the Four Lanes End. Not sure when the roundabout was completed.I think this dealership had to make way for the Meadowhead roundabout (late 60s?) and moved further towards Chesterfield (Whittington Moor?). Stupid question where was it before they filled it in?Still upset that they filled it in.
Struggling. I left Sheffield when I was 7 years old though, I remember being a child and walking with my Mum underneath the hole in the road. Maybe I dreamt it but she always used to buy me chocolate mice from a bakery underneath it (or perhaps it was near it).Can you work it out from this photo?View attachment 137341
Outside where the Bankers Draft pub is now...Stupid question where was it before they filled it in?
Ah now you've said it I do see it. Why did they fill it in (I guess for the tram?), And when did they fill it in?Outside where the Bankers Draft pub is now...
More importantly, what happened to the fish?Ah now you've said it I do see it. Why did they fill it in (I guess for the tram?), And when did they fill it in?
I think it was something quite unusual, so surprised they got shut of it.
Now you come to mention it, there was an aquarium there as well. Hadn't remembered that until you said it.More importantly, what happened to the fish?
Xmas 1970, this photo brings memories of being in the car journey back from my grandmothers house in Hartley Brook Road on Sunday nights. On the journey back to Dronfield, you were able to drive through Fargate and the Moor
