Sheffield Hallam University students on Hospitality Management courses were offered 12 month placements there.
It was a great bar with lots of good bars and diners in the immediate area (great bbq joint called the dinosaur nearby), only downside was downtown Rochester had a ‘less than acceptable’ reputation for gun crime in those days.

First game of the 1970/71 season. On the Sunday before, my dad showed me the 2nd division league table that the Sunday Express predicted. It had us finishing top of the table and Orient (who had just got promotion as Div 3 champions) finishing bottom. As my dad decided that Orient was "too far" for us to go to, we watched Chesterfield play Villa (who had just got relegated from div 2), looking at the half time scores at Saltergate , the scoreboard indicated that the Blades were winning 1-0. I didnt get to find out the final score at Brisbane Road until after tea at home when a Wendy supporting friend called me to play football at the park. He told me that the Blades had lost 3-1 at Orient and that Wendy beat Charlton 1-0. It was a shock to me and I was picturing the predicted 2nd division table that my dad showed to me 6 days earlier. Promotion for us was looking remote and that Orient are a better team than the papers had predicted! The big headline in the Star later that week that John Harris had decided to drop Addison from the team for the home game against Swindon after the player had a big row with coach John Short.

HighfieldBlade , I have not seen the photo before. What was the source?

I have an account on Pinterest, which is an image search database. Many of the photos I've posted on this thread have come from this site.
Would you be able to find a photo of a Blade fan with blood pouring from his head after being hit by a brick during the Blades v Man U match in October 1967? I saw the photo in the early 1980s when I was looking through some of the late 1960s football annuals that belonged to a friend of mine.

I'll certainly have a look. If I find it, I'll be sure to post it on here.
