Given he's the most successful player/captain to ever grace the shirt, should the great man not be front and centre. Not a criticism, just a slightly biased opinion (see my avatar :) )

I like it, though, really good idea and definitely worth the effort, liking the developing work. Any consideration for Jimmy Dunne? Giving his scoring records (I know it's another pre-war), he still holds the record for most number of goals in a Blades season, not to mention the still standing all-time record of scoring in 12 consecutive matches. I think he's still the highest scoring Irishman in the English leagues.
Yep he’ll get on there!

Isn't there room for that other scoring sensation ..... I know he scored against us, but he does have a Statue in the Car Park .............
I’ve been trying to work out where to put him.

I’m going to add managers to the end of the rows... so think I will add him there.

Personally I'd also consider including a few from Chris Morgan, Derek Geary, Rob Kozluk, Nick Montgomery, Stephen Quinn, Michael Tonge and Matt Kilgallon. Granted they're weren't superstars but still prominent players that wore the red and white during the noughties...

View attachment 40277 Right then. I’ve atarted a 1889-2018 Team picture. See Above. (It’s not I repeat not going to be a Sheffield United eating lunch on a metal girder looking out over Sheffield - although I might do that at some point :))

Anyway. I want to add a sprinkling of historic legends. My issue is I have no clue how tall they were!

I’ve got a good idea for e.g Edwards, Hemsley, Woodward etc but the ones I’m struggling with that I’m going to add are:

Derek Pace
Graham Shaw
Jimmy Hagan
Len Badger
Alan Hodgkinson - 5’9 (I think?).
Tony Kenworthy

Do any of you happen to know ‘roughly’ how tall these guys were?

Also... I’m not intending on adding (Gil Reece, Cec Coldwell, Ernest Needham, Mick Jones or Trevor Hockey) would this be a mistake?

Any help would be appreciated.

Surely Mr Foulkes would bend the girder? You got to include him. First Lane legend?

So this is coming along. Two rows down - two to go! (ignore how little Simon Tracey looks like Simon Tracey - I need to rework it but I’ve already done so a few times so need to take a break from him!).

Anyway... I’m going to add managers. I’m adding Harris, Bassett, Warnock and (controversially) Wilder... but that’s not up to debate :) question is... who am I missing historically? Is there one other that you think should be there?

Cheers!

Might want to think about adding Chris Wilder towards the front of the piece. He could be setting fire to the posters he ripped down in the training ground and laughing and stamping on the ashes.

My grandad used to say in the 19 30’s to my dad after a match, Was Doddy on the ball? A giant of a man, Jock Dodds was and scored for fun

In terms of success John Nicholson would top the 'manager' poll by some distance, although he is always classified as Club Secretary and wouldn't be a manager as we know it today.

Bingo. Now just need to find a better picture!

He's always pictured stood up, never sat down. But this might he a better one:

What a great photograph, not seen it before. A team in transition from the all conquering one of a few years previous. Transition to players in more ways than one. Back row L to R (players only) Old Harry Johnson-here's one transition Sievesley is Lievesley-Benson seems to be two players because I'd know George Waller if I saw him in the street. Now that would be a transition. Who's the missing player? I don't know and no time to look up at present.

So this is the line up see below
I have 2 spaces left - I’d like them to go to 2 of the following (not so much legend status but because Ive enjoyed watching em bar 1) :Roger Nilsen, Speed, Kabba, Devlin, Wayne Quinn, Holdsworth, Beatie, Basham, Monty, O’Connell.
Thoughts?

Forth Row: Michael Tonge, Paul Coutts, Chris Morgan, Bob Booker, Eddie Colquhoun, Brian Deane, Harry Maguire, Paul Stancliffe, Phil Jagielka, Jan Age Fjortoft, Vas Borbokis, Cec Coldwell. Brain Gayle,

Third Row: Harry Johnson, Len Badger, Mick Jones, Tony Agana, Glyn Hodges, John Harris, Neil Warnock, John Nicholson, Dave Bassett, Chris Wilder, Nick Montgomery, Bill Dearden, Tony Kenworthy, Kyle Walker, Jimmy Dunne.

Second Row, Graham Shaw, Ted Hemsley, Mark Duffy, Billy Gillespie, Kevin Gage, Simon Tracey, Alan Kelly, Fatty Foulke, Paddy Kenny, Mel Rees, Alan Hodgkinson, Dane Whitehouse, Carl Bradshaw, Alan Woodward, Rob Kozluk, Fred Tunstall.

Front row: Trevor Hockey, Jimmy Hagan, Bobby Davison, Michael Brown, Gil Reece, Alex Sabella, Paul Peschisolido, Billy Sharp, Tony Currie, Peter Ndlovu, Joe Shaw, Keith Edwards, Doc Pace, Nudger Needham, Colin Morris, Mitch Ward, John Fleck.
