Funny videos those interviews are. It’s like you mixed New York and London slang but slapped a high pitched Canadian accent on it. It’s pretty obvious that they are faking their slang, but nevertheless they are hilarious interviews.

Anyway, this thread is ridiculous. Who genuinely gives a toss how Cal Ohare speaks. If you’ve noticed, more and more people around the country are starting to sound like that. I think it’s due to the rise of music and culture coming out of London that has led to young people using the slang you’d hear in London. Don’t quote me on that though.

Linguistics is an extremely interesting field. You don’t strike me as a linguistics professor crooked bladesman.

Because London is a primate city and it has such a grip on the culture and language of the UK, it’s normal that people, especially younger people like Ohare is start using slang and language from London. Similar phenomenons occur in places like the Philippines and Argentina, where one city is so much larger than others, regionalized slang of those cities eventually spreads out to the rest of the country.

Perhaps not. Just because something is observed in one group of people doesn’t mean it is in another. Crosspool is also one of the nicer parts of Sheffield to my recollection, so maybe it’s a class thing.
