Oh the Horror...

Just watched the match action from yesterday and I'm no Mourinho but the follow caught my eye

Goal 1.

Long throw that NA had told the press about during the week. Ball come over our 2 tallest players are marking each other on the front post. Gills player gets in front of long, who punches it badly.



Goal 2.

Corner comes in, Basham is now marking McFazdean, Collins is holding onto their 50 and Super Captain JayMac seems to be landing a right jab on the other Gills Lad. Meanwhile the black lad in the orange boots has made his way into the huge gap with enough time to bend down and head the ball towards goal. The ball now bounces off a few lumo green shinpads before beating the confused Long.



Goal 3.

Ball comes over, CapJayMac is having a cuddle in front of Long and both posts are guarded nicely. Neil Collins beats his marker to find the gap and head smashes the ball nicely into the net... the wrong net.



The 4th goal is a decent goal, should have been closed down but a good finish none the less.

The following made me chuckle. Freeman has found himself in space on the edge of the box, 2 defenders are rushing on to him and he is at a tight angle to get a shot off. He has Woolford in the middle on his tod and Billy Sharp lurking at the back post with a decent amount of space, Freeman could either...

a. Try and thread the ball through the 2 onrushing defenders to Woolford in the middle
b. Float a ball to the back post and hope it reaches Sharp
c. Have a crack.

To be fair, you forgot to point out how Billy was cleverly stood in an offside position.

Imagine what our defence would have been like if they'd not been practising set pieces.....

My favourite thing about this goal is we seem to have 9 outfield players defending our box against 4 attackers.

Looking at the first three pictures I notice we are defending on the six yard line rather than on line with the penalty spot any touch from an attacker is likely to be a goal. Why the hell are we so deep our two CB's have enough experience to know better and the keeper should be screaming at them to step out no wonder he can't come and claim the balls into the box when surrounded by bodies of both attackers and defenders. In the first piture WTF are Collins and J Mc doing is one trying to slip one up the others arse ? Every picture sees 11 or 12 players in the six yard box and the horror is defenders outnumber attackers by 2 to 1 each time yet not one defender goes and attacks the ball.

Maybe it's cos you can't be offside from a throw in and if the lad can put it under the bar then you'd best get some cover in there

Excellent post and what Freeman should have done is tried to pick out Billy, as thats the type of chances he thrives on.

Good stuff on the defending. Shows what a bunch of donkeys we have in the centre back positions and in net.

Haha I love that HTFC stuff after reading from the links posted. Didn't know anything about it until today!

If only I had the know how to do something like that for SUFC! Can just picture it now.

Anyone have that know how on doing something similar? I can see it being very popular if we did have something like that for us.......any takers?
