Oh No JOC

Although playing in the shambles we currently are, would not have helped his cause, he would have had a real shot at the Euros. After this injury, I doubt he will get a premier league move in the summer. It will be good for us, but such a shame for JOC to possibly lose 2 seasons of Prem football at such a peak time in his career.

Thing is with injuries like these and for a player to be out for so long, will he be the same player when he comes back?

Get him back to best possible condition and only start playing when the transfer windows have passed. He is too valuable for us.

Same gamble for us though, take an offer what may be good one if he never fully recovers or hold out and and take the chance we lose his value if he doesn't.
Indeed, but we'll be offering him £20k, maybe going up to double if we're promoted. They'll be offering more than that, and have to stump up a hefty fee when they've not even seen him in training or seen his medical records.

He’s been sent back to the surgeon for a check up. No way he will be back this season and if he needs another op could be out all year.

Come on Wilder/Board, get a decent central defender in ffs.
Do you think it’s possible to make a difference this year? Feels like a waste of money to me, though I get the sentiment.

However we are all assuming he makes it back AND is the same player he was before. That isn't a given.
I’m definitely not assuming that. that’s why he’ll be with us next year. That doesn’t mean he’ll be on the field.

We still need to show some pride and try to pick up as many points as possible - and we’ll struggle to do that with the current central defence. And we certainly want to avoid the utter embarrassment of failing to exceed Derby’s low points record.

Yes, understood. But at the same time Wilder can’t afford another transfer miss. We either go cheaper, and it’s possibly pointless, or expensive, and it’s pulling even more from future spending potential.

Norwich lost their last ten matches last season. End of season (lack of) confidence doesn’t seem to be hindering them right now. So we have to avoid expensive vanity projects.

I get the feeling that he is destined to have these injury setbacks for the rest of his career (all to do with this injury),will never be the same again, brings back memories of Kennedy.
Apart from Kennedy was only decent in the view of a few fans and didn’t have a promotion clinching season (including ‘The goal’) and a hugely impressive season the PL.

Kennedy is another one of those players who gets better the longer he didn’t play for us.

Because we’ll probably have to sign a proper replacement for him as he might not be fit for the start of next season and will take a long time to get back to form. We don’t have that time. It’ll be similar to the Coutts situation.
Yeah and we all know how that turned out.

i think it makes it certain that joc will be our player till january at least which would be fantastic news for us especially if egan stays as well lots of doom and gloom on this site about our chances next season after this disastrous one but i really fancy our chances of bouncing straight back up just need that midfield sorting with 2 or 3 good additions in that area
This time next year we will be right in the promotion mix. We may even do a Norwich and absolutely piss it.

Yeah and we all know how that turned out.
I guess it worked out ok for us in the end, to a point, once we’d brought Norwood in, although I can’t help but wonder what he’d have been like if he hadn’t broken his leg and we’d been promoted. He looked class at Championship level, like he could step up. Now he’s on the bench for Salford.

It’s striking how players always become better and, in this case, world class when they’re out long term injured.

Doubt you'll be getting your wish Deano. With Ampadu's form improving we may as well use him in a position that he's doing well at. More effort needed to sign a centre mid I think.
Improving? If it got any worse he'd have been sent to the morgue

Leave him to get properly sorted and recall RND, I don't understand why we haven't just done it instead of all the fucking about, RND, Robinson or Bryan!!!
Surely it's a no brainer at this point!!??????

thing is rnd will get regular game time at stoke but he wouldnt with us think osborns form at lwb may have determined this decision but really hope we bring him back for next season him and osborn will be competing for the lb/lwb role wouldnt be suprised if enda and max lowe were moved on

CW / the Club have totally failed to address the JoC situation - only themselves to blame for trying to run with an unfit JoC in last season's restart and then failing to bring in a big dominant CB in the summer. Trying to get by with such as Robinson , Ampadu , Stevens , Bryan etc has got exactly what it deserved. We'll get nowhere in the Championship either , until we can defend crosses & corners.

Really hope he recovers soon and gets back to his best.

But I can't see us keeping hold of him next season either way.
How who’s going to buy a players for his pre injury value who’s been out injured for a year use a bit of common sense man

we will be fine and wont get punished for every mistake in the championship like you do in the premier league

Sorted it out approximately 50 posts ago, but I appreciate your concern.

Osborn is out injured, Stevens is hit and miss, plus, RND can play on the left of a back 3, which is exactly where he should be playing for us.

What is he return time looking like? This season? I feel he's the difference between a promotion push and being defensively vulnerable

When Davies signed, he was seen in the gym with the rest of the squad. I assume he is on his own training regime to get back to fitness. I doubt we will see him before Christmas (not sure he is listed on the EFL squad list) but he has been given his shirt number 5 for this season.

I noticed in the behind-the-scenes video for the Preston game Jack was in the corridor as the teams were coming out for the first half, so he is still round and about the team business
I hope that is a positive sign!
