Oh Lord Michael Brown

I could watch that goal vs pigs over and over again. In fact I just did. Brought a tear to my eye and a shiver to me neck.

It does me snooty.

I've watched Brownie's goal v the Pork more times than I can remember and often think what the Porker's on the Lane end must have thought as he volleyed past Pressman who as we saw was swimming through fresh air?

Cammy's commentary of " The rewards will all come your way " rang very true that memorable evening that's for sure. A week later Brownie volleys another peach v Ipswich.

If he'd scored who knows with the amount of comebacks we'd done that season. Wolves would've panicked i'm sure.

Tonge also hit the post with a free kick in the second half. I hope we have another season like that at some point but top it off with some success.

He 'Billy Sharped' a penalty at Cardiff

I remember talking to some Wolves fans after that game and incredibly they thought with 5 mins remaining they still expected us to draw level and lose in extra time. Such was our never say die spirit and heroic fight backs that season they couldn't enjoy a 3 goal lead. Remember the play off semi v Forest as the best ever game watched and admired by the rest of the nation. How many fans must have been thinking " I wish that was our team "

The best ever game I've been to, such a rollercoaster of emotions, 0-2, we race up their end, win a free kick and immediately score. Pesch with his "oh my god" celebration, piggy Des Walker putting it into his own net in front of the KOP then for Rob Page to score an own goal shortly after just to make us sweat those last few minutes.

What a game. Enjoy

Speaking to Carl Asaba a couple of years back and asked him about that particular match. A match that would go down in club history where I pointed out to him that the game changer was actually Des Walker. In what way he asked. If you remember, Forest had just gone 0-2 up via Andy Ried a point at which Forest must have thought they were on their way to Cardif but immediately from kick off we were on the attack when Carl Asaba is on his way through on goal only to be brought down by Des Walker. The resulting free kick by " oh lord " struck non other than Des Walker on the arse before going past the Forest keeper. Goal number 2 via Steve Kabba perform a street performers juggling act with an audience of 1 being non other than Des Walker standing motionless as he volleyed a peach of a goal for the equaliser which we'll never forget. The 4th goal again involved Mr Walker who under pressure nodded nonchalantly into his own net to effectively end their Premiership dreams.

Thank you Des Walker as Carl Asaba nods and say's I never thought of it that way but yeah, you're right, what an unforgettable night that was and not forgetting that famous " oh my God " goal from Pesci eh?

What a fucking player.

Yup, Currie. Yeah, Woodward. Indeed Bob Bookah, Bradders and Edwards.

But that bloke gave us some of the best moments. That goal against the pigs was unmatched. It was with Fatty Pressman in goal and not only was he a good keeper, he always went one better against us. Save for that shot which blazed past him.

And his performance against Pompey away. 'Bossed the game'. They couldn't handle him.

Great season, so many comebacks and great days and nights in the cups. Brown banging in belters every other week, tonge looking like a world beater, McCall rolling back the years, jags with a wonder goals against Leeds of all teams. Shame to end the season with nothing but the memories are worth a lot to me, some absolute legends graced the lane that season - my favourite season as a blade.

Tongy hit the post with a free kick this Satdi for Stevenage.

Ain't no volley like a Michael Brown volley. He had a bit of most things, quality, football awareness (another player I recall who had similar was Jimmy Case, filthy at times but could anticipate what was going on around him), could tackle, make educated runs, could shoot accurately, and was a leader amongst leaders. Top player for us.

All jokes aside around that time I was in a fucking terrible place in other areas of my life and I swear that that season - looking forward to each weekend, the excitement of the cup runs and the playoffs etc - helped me out a lot on a personal level. It gave me somewhere to go and forget about everything else. Fucking brilliant year.

Takes me back some of them goals....what a season that was still can't believe we didn't get promoted.

Best out and out midfielder I've seen at lane(in my time anyway)

What a player and still one of my all times favourites. Was truly gutted when he left to go to Spurs.

On the topic of that season, I find this hilarious too. Another legend. I still remember him missing an absolute sitter in a massive game when we desperately needed a goal (might have been Liverpool, not sure though), and then getting up and giving the Kop a massive 'Oh well!' type of smile before turning around and running back onto the pitch. I couldn't stay annoyed at him, he melted my heart. He always maintained a sense of perspective.
