Great to hear! All too often we hear that Micky is downhearted, so its great to see him come out fighting (albeit with words) but this in conjunction with his comments about perhaps sending some loanees back by today, the rumour about Yeates being paid off and also talking of playing more youngsters for the last 5 games, then we're moving in the right direction.

This is what I expected from Micky when he came in, so its great to hear.... bit late though.

I'll believe it when it happens. Particularly the bit about sending the loan players back - it's exactly what we need to do but it's now two months too late. 18000+ Blades can see that Nosworthy hasn't had a great season yet he's been picked for almost every game that he's been available for. Marcus Bent was a failure from start to finish; I find it hard to believe that we didn't have players in the squad who could have had a greater impact.

It smacks of desperation. Adams isd clutching at straws and even only a few months into his career is refusing to take the blame. It is not my team, I have a good CV etc. Absolutely pathetic.

He is clearly a stubborn git and doesn't look like he is going to walk. That may change when we finish bottom and are relegated. We live in hope.

Personally, I don't care if he was on the Kop or where he's from, as the manager he should be getting it right on the pitch, and that's where the evaluation should be focused on.

Howevery, we can't keep changing managers all the time. It will be a completely new situation in the summer, and there may be good reasons for thinking Adams will chose differently now that he has to build a new team, not desperately trying to stop a slide.

Truly pathetic comments from a pathetic manager. Blackwell has returned.

Trust me, we didn't.....and you can thank the directors for that.

Harry Maguire has suggested in his first 40 minutes on the pitch that he may have been a better option than Nyron Nosworthy. Certainly he should have been given the opportunity much sooner.

That's the key thing to keep in mind here. Yes he came on and did very well for his first outing. I commented on how well he did but he is a nipper, we have been in a relegation scrap and we know very little about this lad. I strongly advocate giving youngsters a chance at almost any opportunity but I can understand why MA and co would have been cautious about doing so in recent weeks.

Harry Maguire may well become a quality player and stalwart for the club, I sincerely hope he does. But even with how bad our defence has been, you cant suggest at such an early stage that we should have been playing this lad. Even if he's got bags of potential he might not have been ready at the time. Its a massive step up and the environment/circumstances have to be right before we give the academy lads that sort of exposure.

don't buy this at all SC. Kenny Dalglish was happy to put in 17/18 year old against Man City the other night when he was struggling for options.

I understand the thing about Magure being young BUT the point is that Nosworthy and Collins have been letting Adams down for weeks. It was genuinly half a dozen games that he stuck with those clowns before changing things. Everyone in the stand could see it, but he persisted with tow of the worst defenders we've had at the club.

If Adams had have started Maguire earlier and Maguire had of struggled I would not have been upset. I would have said fair enough, he gambled. Perhaps others would not have been so forgivinning, but I would have beacked Adams playing almost anyone in front of Nosworthy and/or Collins.

So to sum up, I'm a Blade so your stuck with me.

i've decided that i'm prepared to give him a bit of time.. if he does what he says he's going to do (get rid of loanees.. high (underperforming) earners.. put some of the kids in then i'll be happy with that.. if we end up with ten new loanees next season then you won't hear the last of it:eek:

plus he can't really say .. 'these players are wank' either because he's stuck with them for another five games

I believe by transfer listing the whole squad at Port Vale this was exactly what he said

Full Squad Listed

Adams puts Vale squad up for sale

Micky Adams has lost three of his nine league games in charge of Port Vale
Port Vale manager Micky Adams has made every player in his squad available for transfer following their 3-1 defeat at Notts County on Saturday.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've told them that the whole squad will be transfer listed on Monday morning.

"It's not a personal thing. I could make excuses for them and their performance today but that would just be papering over the cracks.

"The fans deserve better and I want to give them better."

Adams continued: "When I first came to the club, the budget was spent and they said there was nothing I could do. Well I can do something and I will do something.

"We'll see how good they are. If we get offers, free transfers or whatever, and it allows me to bring in the type of player that I want to bring in, let's do it.

"Everyone's been given a chance. People will talk about the fringe players, like David Howland and Danny Glover, but they had their chance for the reserves in the week and did they perform? That's debatable."

Vale went to Meadow Lane with County having lost Sol Campbell on Wednesday, after just one league appearance, but two goals from Lee Hughes helped the home side to a comfortable victory.

606: DEBATE
I just wonder how the players morale will go now... team spirit plays a big part and the relationship with the club and manager

fanter009
"Forget all that stuff about Sol Campbell," added Adams. "The scenario was that they've got good players and you have to stand up and be counted.

"We flattered to deceive out there, we looked like a woman wearing a fur coat and no knickers."

Vale are back in action on Tuesday, when Accrington are the visitors to Vale Park.

heh.. absolute quality.. get shields on the phone right now :D

The biggest joke is that even our manager hasn't got a fucking clue just who our chairman is. He mentions the carpet bagger and the auctioneer but of the carpet seller, not a word.

Organisation? Meh.

ffs did anyone hear football heaven tonight?
a fucking chesterfield fan was slagging off blades fans for shit like this, yeh we are almost certainly down, and you can point the finger at mc cabe, blackie, speed or micky, but in his favour he is (a little late maybe) trying what the fans wanted and still hes getting slated. personally i applaud micky for not bowing to fan pressure earlier about youth players and development boys as id like to believe he was protecting them.
from who you might ask, well boys and girls, from you the fans.
earlier this season yeates won us a coupla games and he was the new messiah (turns out he was a very naughty boy) now the same people asking for his cononisation now are asking just for a csnnon to blow him out the club. adams was right, a player has a bad game or two and the fans want his skin as a lampshade, would anyone really want to subject youth players etc to the kind of shit from fans that for eg billy sharp got on his return to the lane?
players deserve critique when they play bad but ive heard blades fans "saying nos and collins and others should just die" fuck me, yeh they play shit but thats out of order, with fans like that no wonder kyles, jags etc could pack fast enough to get out.
i find it astonishing our fans are praised more AWAY from home than at home.
its about time people remembered we are fans of SUFC, thick or thin, not just when we play well and win, i remember a few seasons ago we were playing wrexham in the cup, spanking them 4-0 or 5-0 (yeh long time ago) and thier fans almost out sang the kop, less than 2,000 fans, at the end the kop gave them a standing ovation, thats how we should be, vocal no matter what.
lets get this season over and start afresh next season and support OUR lads at home with thepassion we do away.

Agree totally Bloody brilliant. If our ground was filled with this positive passion we'd all enjoy it more have more of a laugh and the team would thrive on it.

He says: "My eyes were open when I took it on and I knew there were problems, otherwise there would not have been a vacancy"

Erm; our previous manager was offered the job of managing his national team. He wasn't sacked; he left for a better job.

Although very few better jobs require you to take a massive pay cut.

But the point still holds. We were in an awful state when he came. It's probably got worse, but the initial point is true.

Spot on Munxy, I posted a few days ago about the timing of bringing kids in and you can only imagine the slating he would have got if he brought Maguire et al in, say 6 weeks ago and we still lost those games against Palace, Scunny and Derby. The problem he's got now of course is that say we win today with 3 or 4 kids in, it'll be "why didn't he play them 6 weeks ago" so he's in a no win situation.

I think he's got it about right, he had to try and rely on experience until now but now the fat lady is gargling, give them a few games now, the whole of pre-season to bed down with the 1st team squad and then start next season in what will be a new team at a lower level.

i dont think anybody wouldve slated him for trying the kids six weeks ago.... we were fucking awful then and we all thought the kids on the books were a better option to the collins, doyles and bents.

Hear hear. Persisting with the same team that hadn't won for 13 games was just lunacy.
