I was mentally reviewing the possible offside call for their goal and couldn’t remember any other offside decisions in the game. Sure enough, there weren’t any! Don’t know how anybody would know this kind of stuff but there surely can’t be many professional games where there have been no offside calls in the entire match?

It feels unusual but it's not as rare as you might think.

Our 2-0 win Peterborough in January had zero offsides. Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at Lincoln in March also had zero.

Knowledge!

Slightly at a tangent, but I haven’t kept up with rule changes. Only discovered there are now 5 subs when at the game. But in the programme it listed a VAR ref. Is that now a thing in the Championship and if so why didn‘t they look at their goal?

No VAR in Championship, I'd guess that was a typo in the programme (maybe using a template from last season's programme when they will have had VAR in the Prem, and nobody changed it).

Can we make it a rule (punishable by lifetime ban) that the fucking word t******e is no longer used on this site?
It's use as a proper word in the English language is now so tainted by kit shit talk I go into convulsions whenever I read it.

You say you can’t abide kit threads but I think you find them secretly compulsive. One day you’ll forget to clear your internet history and the wife will find page after page of mattbianco1 design work. 😱

You're right of course JD. I can't believe grown men can try and design and discuss football shirts for hours on end. Totally fascinating concept.

I don't actually look at the designs though (it's a bloody shirt for playing football in for Christs sake) but find the conversation ludicrous but compelling. Template/Bespoke/Badge position/Collars and Cuffs/Sleeves/Sponsors Logo et al. Unbelievable waste of everyone's time.
Fortunately the fun has now begun and we can discuss what the players do on the field from now on!

It's nice when the collars and cuffs match, more often or not in this day and age you only get a collar and no cuff ;)

Their goal was offside.
Bad ref decision. Technically then we should have 1 point already. That would have almost been WestHamesque to have seen VAR chalk that off.

I like to track these things but it was just so self inflicted I think that should overrule any officiating oversight.

I'm not having them steal all the glory of taking the blame on this one. If the opposition manages to score from our corner then the credit should be unanimously ours and ours alone!

Two games and not a single offside so far this season.
You beat me to it! And we even had Billy on the pitch for a decent spell this time.

One for the stattos - has a team ever gone 3 games without an offside in their match?

I will quite happily pride myself on being incredibly biased towards United.

However having just watched the highlights showing the pass out to the right and the pass to the centre and I don’t really see much to gripe about. Maybe other angles look very different but judging by the lines on the pitch it isn’t glaringly obvious to me, which kind of makes me feel a bit better about it.

What is the offside we are talking about?

What worries me most about picture one is that they have 3 men in the shot and we have 5.

The problem is that our 5 are all in a central area and are effectively all out of the game if their sole central player goes wide on either side, which he of course did.

It's as if we were all charging back chasing the ball with no thought as to what happens next.

Surely our wing backs (or a nominated cover) should have been chasing back with a view to neutralising the wide players leaving the other 3 to worry about the guy on the ball?

Watch it again, main culprit was Max Lowe

I was commenting on a still photograph.

I haven't seen it as I was away last week and even if I had seen it I'm not interested in scapegoating individual players.

I assumed United let the loose ball go because they knew their player was offside if the ball was played to the player on the right wing in pic 1. Offside wasn't called and all hell broke loose at the back as a result.

Watch Lowes pathetic performance and it might persuade you to get off your high horse 🐎

There were no offsides in yesterday's game either.

EDIT - Damn, someone already mentioned it. At least I posted a screenshot of the stats though......

3 matches, not a single offside decision against us, can’t make my mind up whether that’s a good thing (forwards being attentive) or a bad thing (not being bold enough and stretching the envelope). It won’t have gone unnoticed by the Far East betting syndicates though……..
