Official Player Of The Season Poll and Award

As it stands I won't get a vote this season, what with the Woodseats Branch of the Supporter's Club going tits up. This could indeed be a blessing in disguise, for how the hell do I pick a player out from the swathe of mediocrity we've endured this season? We have had so many loanees, injuries, suspensions and departures that I cannot think of one single outstanding individual this season. There have been occasional flashes of brilliance, but that's about your lot.

So if I was still a Supporter's Club member, who would I be voting for?

I might just have voted for Paddy. After all, he's not fucked up at all this season, has he? Or our top goalscorer, admittedly scoring them for somebody else, but what the hey.

Plus it just might be a gentle nudge to the Kevs that the players that have been on the pitch haven't met our expectations.


Except Monty of course, who is fucking ace.

Your right though, its hard to pick a player out of this squad. I got told Mark Bunn got the player of the season, dont know if there is any truth in that.

There's not many to choose from is there?

It would've been Kyle Walker if he stayed, but he didn't. So I'd say Morgs, Monty, Ward and Hendo are the contenders. I don't think Morgs has had his best season, Monty had a bad run of form and Ward has been a little up and down, so for me Hendo probably scrapes it for his goals and consistency for most of the season. I know quite a few don't rate him but he's the one who dragged us out of that awful run of form in November and IMO hasn't had as many bad games as most of the other players. It's a massive shame he got injured when he did, otherwise I'm pretty sure that he'd be receiving most votes.

Looking trough the squad, it's difficult to pick someone out who could be described as player of the season. It's been too interrupted by injuries for anyone to put in a run of good performances over a reasonable amount of matches. Ward made a very impressive start to the season but playing with an injury hasn't helped him, Henderson is in a similar situation and was on top form around November and has been rushed back from injury since, Morgan has been missing from the team for spells whilst injured or suspended but has coped well playing alongside an ever changing back four and Montgomery has been inconsistant at times but overall has had a decent season and his contract expiration in the summer doesn't appear to have affected his performances. Also Stephen Quinn deserves a lot of credit for his recent performances and for the way he has bounced back from the criticism he was recieving earlier in the season.

Probably have to choose between Henderson and Montgomery for the vote.

We were just talking about this in the car earlier. We'll be going to the do on Saturday.... and will be interesting to see who does get it. Morgan? Monty? Quinn? Been quite easy to pick over last few seasons, but there's been that many players in and out this season!
