Offer in for Brooks...

I can hear "there was nothing we could do to stop the lad" already!

I hope I am proved wrong but we have seen this so often. Starting with vague news articles that then lead to denials that then lead to deals.

It is Mr McCabes club and he has every right to do what he wants with the assets, but i for one am sick of seeing promising ex united players playing for other teams in the prem. He has just signed a contract, he has barely played for the first team, he has no contract clause so I hope for once we firmly rebuff any advances.

Worst case scenario, we at least learn from Ron the Rug and play hardball. Now who'll give me £15 mill?

My outrage at this unsubstantiated rumour is building now.

I just need someone to blame from the shortlist:
McCabe
Wenger / prem manager
The player
The players agent
Wilder
The prince
Desso
Fax

Once I can direct my fury, I will feel better about things in this hypothetical maelstrom.

"Sheffield United have been approached by a Premier League club willing to pay an eight figure sum for Wales international David Brooks.

the size of their offer .

Despite not constituting an official bid, is believed to have been tabled by a respected intermediary.

So how exactly does this work? Taking the 3 quotes from the article above.

We have been approached by a premier league club

They had made an offer, as its quoted as "the size of their offer"

But it does not constitute an official bid and was made by an intermediary.

So were we approached by the club, or a 3rd party? Did they made an offer or a bid? Maybe its just been a long day, but this seems like its just been written to mess with your head and is just a load of complete codswallop although I cant wait to be corrected by someone who can decipher all the bollocks and actually break it down into simpleton terms.

It means the Star is getting desperate for money and so has invented a complete non-story designed to get you to click on it. To make sure they get some money they've added an adblock blocker so you need so let them show paid adverts to you (unless you use Tor or any other browser that blocks javascript :) ).

Agents. Sometimes estate agents will market a property they haven't been instructed on, knowing that if they can do a deal the agent who has been instructed will pay them a cut.
I believe some football agents do a similar thing; they use their contacts in the game to set up a deal and take a cut. It may be that. Some agent may have said to Wankchester Rovers 'would you take Brooks for £15m?' If the club says yes they then go to the Blades and say 'I can get you £15m for Brooks, interested?'

I'm reading this as Bush Blade has spoken to someone at the very top of the club and the ground is for sale so Candy Town can relocate.

When I post on Twitter, I will protect your anonymity by referring to you as Indonesia Blade.

If I can pull this off I'll be Tortola Blade as that's where I'll be sticking my cash, in FukBDBL Ltd (incorporated in the British Virgin Islands).

I was watching him 18 months ago mate, that's why I said it. He always got stuck in, even when he was stick-thin

Wasn"t just referring to tackling Grappler but ok I'll rephrase, how about " as recently as August he was on his way to Chesterfield on a League 2 season long loan"

IF (and it's a big if) we are going to be looking at £10m+ for him I would genuinely sell in Jan buy a £5m striker and £5m centre mid and start nurturing some more of the youth to come through. We need a proper CM and another forward more than we need a flair player at the moment.

Fine, and I wasn't intending to argue, just that I didn't associate the word "timid" with David Brooks, and as I always say, we all see things differently (hence I am always interested in other peoples view of a game, because I can only see it from where I sit in the South Stand).

I understand on some threads that we can't expect much in January as it's never a good time to buy.

And also that we can expect to sell our brightest rising star.

I'm not sure if both can be right.

FFS.

Can't we tell the prem club to piss off?

No, ok then.

Another asset sold.

Yeah, it's starting to sound very Calvert-Lewinish isn't it, a sense of inevitability starting to set in.

Funnily enough, it's the same scenario (£10m plus a loan-back for the rest of the season) that John Beresford talked of as a sort of no-brainer when he was interviewed on Alan Biggs's show a few weeks back. Wonder how close Beresford is to Chris (if at all)?

10m won't buy his right leg never mind the magicians left peg .he can do magic

Have you met him?

You probably wouldn't to tackle him, but you might want to say 'Excuse me sir'.....

Once I can direct my fury, I will feel better about things in this hypothetical maelstrom.

Apparently it's the West Yorkshire Blades who have stirred it up. The bastards had a few pints and let on how good he was. Word leaked out and now every bugger knows.

Give them a kicking from me too.

I wouldn’t sell. We can’t replace him in the window.

But, in the summer...Needs to be north of £15m and close to £20m. At least £15m needs to be paid on the nose. Any value above that can be based on appearances.

We’re a Championship club now. We need to charge like a wounded rhino, like everyone else.
