Offer in for Brooks...

Why do that when we can just pay for the clubs running costs for the next 2 years?

It wouldn't even pay for that. Based on last years losses £10m would cover one & two-thirds years losses, so we will be selling JOC as well to make up the difference.

I doubt that, according to transfermarkt we'd have to sell our whole team to make up the difference.

If/when we sell then we all know that only a fraction of the fee will make it back into the transfer kitty, it's just the United way unfortunately. Therefore we may as well wait until such time that a fraction is a fairly hefty sum, and make use of his talents in the meantime.

It would be madness to sell him now.

15m or above and I'd let him go.

We could significantly improve our squad with that cash.

Not really.

It would never be £15million up front, we'd be under immense pressure to spend whatever we did get up front within the restraints of the transfer window, and anybody we'd want would get another 0 slapped on the end of their price tag because everybody would know we've just cashed in.

No point in selling. Unless Brooks wishes to force a move through, he'll be staying put.

Remember when everyone was wanking about Reed? Wish we'd got £15m for him. Although Cloughie would have just signed some more crocks from Derby.

I’m not turning my ad blocker off.

Yeah since when did that shitrag have the anti-adblocker thing? Its a pretty shit one too

Anyway just for you and the less technically savy:

"
Sheffield United have been approached by a Premier League club willing to pay an eight figure sum for Wales international David Brooks, The Star understands.

Although the team in question were informed the 20-year-old is not for sale, the size of their offer underlines his growing status after making an impressive start to the Championship season...."

Yes, Coutts was a long way from fitness when we first signed him.

But feel free to insert your own cliche such as 'the money would go straight into McCabe's pocket'
This one always puzzles me, the guy pumps his own money in, and has done for years, gets little to no thanks for this in fact gets accused of not putting enough in. We then make a hell of a lot of money on a player and people think it's wrong if he takes some of the profit.

Can of worms opened :)

More like Pandora's Box.

Some on here won't even fork out for a membership.....

If there are clubs competing for him, exploit the situation and sell high.

If it's just one club say ' no thanks'.

I'm afraid the ' here and now' takes priority for a club in our position. Brooks will find his level in about 12/18 months time and nobody knows what that is. At present he does not justify a starting place in our team. 18 months ago he was one of many hopefuls in our junior ranks, nothing special, bit timid in fact. Nobody knows his true level.

If it's £15m, that's the "'here and now'. Brooks would also multiply his wages and for him that's the 'here and now'!

Not sure which games you were watching, but every time I saw Brooks in the youth teams, he looked great, comfortable on the ball, tricks a plenty and always looking to get forward and attack.

Not only that, I was always impressed about how aggressive he was in the tackle, for such a slightly built lad.

"Timid" is not a word I would have associated with David Brooks.

Another point to add is that he, presumably, could do nothing to stop the Prince taking a cut? Or do both parties have to agree to every decision?

But he hasn't taken any 'profit'. We haven't made any for years. I don't believe he intends to. What use is a couple of million to him when he's got a manager that could invest the money and potentially take us up? He could take a couple of million out of the PL money and no one would even notice. Or sell the club and get all his money back. (Or at least a sizeable chunk of it).

I said "18 months ago". Ask Baw or Larky on here.

My understanding is that the Premier League Club is Arsenal. The deal is £10 million and he is loaned back for the rest of the current season.

Not saying he will, just saying no one could complain if he did.

Wonder who's behind that story.
Either United, wanting to stir up bidding, the bidding club wanting to get the ball rolling or probably least likely the player himself.
Sounds a bit of a weak story but somebody obviously wanted the world to know.

All a bit vague Walkley.......
