Now is the time to offer a new contract. CW wants security for the football club on a long term basis. Which as fans we love and need.

CW will also want security for himself depending who is in charge.

I think we should be looking to add a good kind of pressure on CW offering improved terms and more security in his contract.

Didn't he sign a new one just last summer?

Whether he did or not, now's the time to offer a new, much-improved and lengthier contract (nowt daft like Porterfield's 10-year contract - just enough to keep CW keen and focussed). Gerrim tied down. By doing that and even if he does leave, McCabe can say he'd done all he can to keep CW. If the Prince objects, the only reason can be he's got his own man 'waiting in the wings' which no supporter would want. Unless it's Guardiola.

Whats the point, he's already signed for sunnerland, ain't he?

More like Gladiola on our budget ;)

Most likely. But he deserved to be rewarded in line with his performance?

This is how this industry works,
I’d give him a new one after next season. If you give new contracts every time someone feels a bit insecure you’ll never stop.

I would hate to work for you. So you bring success to your work but no further reward.

If CW stays he will 100% get a new contract. But I would rather try and tie him down now.

His compensation will be reduced with only 12 months left on his current deal.

Maybe Man City should have done that with Pep and said no new contract.

Come on Bladeszz he only signed a new one last June and even then the old one still had 2 years to run.

And...... if as he says he's ambitious and wants to manage at the top level what makes you think he would sign a contract extension on top of the contract extension he signed 11 months ago?

Have you not been following the advice previously given by our Quality Poster, then ? :)

I was told this week from someone close to the family that he will be here next season and it will be sorted next week . I'm not saying that's nailed on because you never know but I'll believe it for now and stay positive

Hope your're right, bit bored of this crap now.

There's every chance he's got both a yearly salary increase and a performance-related bonus written into the existing contract.

Money obviously talks but I think that CW is a man of principle and, I would hope that he would keep pressure on the owners by not agreeing to any hypothetical offer. Sooner rather than later the owners need to demonstrate at least some clarity as to their vision of the club's future direction and a whole lot more respect for CW and what he has achieved..

The world is currently CW's oyster and, much as he loves United, I don't think that he would allow sentiment get in the way of his and his family's future.

Who on earth wants Guardiola instead of Wilder?

The world is his oyster?

Only if Neil Harris and Alex Neil get snapped up first.

Some of our fans have a vastly inflated opinion of Wilders worth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the basket case that is Sunderland is his only realistic chance of going anywhere for a potentially better job and they're currently in the same sort of ownnership mess as us, albeit theirs appears to be a lot nearer a resolution than ours.

I dont see what a new contract would solve anything. Because money & length isnt the problem. So unless that contract comes with a plan & guarantees about budgets & players. I dont see why he would sign it

Who is going over to Miami to sort it?

Agree with the above.
When you say world do you mean league 1 and league 2?
Agree Wilder can name his club and his price in the lower leagues, he’ll be in huge demand down there.

But he’d be a massive risk for a Championship club
Just check out his cv, he’s only EVER had 1 single season in he Championship

And he’s NEVER managed or coached in the Premier League.
He’s no experience of dealing with foreign players, no epxerience of dealing with players on huge contracts No experience dealing with difficult pre Madonna players, no experience of massive pressure. Can’t see any PL club showing interested, many fans of clubs in the PL have never even heard of Wilder.

I’ve also said it before the only club in the lower leagues that has huge potential, bigger than us, is Sunderland.
Can’t see any other club showing interest, apart from maybe a struggling Championship club willing to take the risk.
Basically he’s better of off staying at Sheff United. Confident he’ll give us at least another year so see how he’s backed by the board.

I think you're asking the wrong person here ;)

It was a follow on post backing up your post which I agree with.
We need to control our excitement about Wilders worth.
Personally I think he’s great, our best manager since Dave Bassett
but when I travel around the country some fans have never even heard of Chris Wilder.
And then when you compare his cv to the cv’s of other managers, you can understand why others are underwhelmed.
