Outgoing? O’Connell to Brighton

It all depends on if he wants to go. Whether or not his agent bends his ear that way thinking of the £££. Or if the player does genuinely think he's got a chance of playing premier league football. If any or both of those things are true, get the best amount you can and move on/reinvest. CW has always said if a player isn't happy/ wants to leave he will because there's no point keeping them. I would be looking for at least double the 5-6m being quoted though.

And this is the problem we have. We say no. Agent does deal and gets player to put in xfer request.

Too much money at the top of football. Blame sky.

The easy answer to stopping this happening again is to buy players nobody else is bothered about, lot less stressful in the long run, we might go down but at least it stops all this bollocks, ruining my summer,it was all going so well, Wilder stays, new budget, only recruiting 4- quality additions, even England are doing ok,and then there's the weather, lets hope it all ends well, I dread to think what the s6 twats are making of it.

They're probably wondering what it's like to have players other teams actually want.

For the right money, no one can really complain about selling our best players because we are so low down the food chain.

The problem is we haven’t in the past got anything close to the right money. The way the market is now we should be asking for at least £15m. The rumoured £6m isn’t even close to his market value.

Brighton walked away from Liam Moore for more than £8m I think it was. I would be wanting £18m +

5-6million would be an utterly daft fee. Maybe last season when he'd barely kicked a ball in the Championship, but he has a full very impressive season behind him now. Particularly as a chunk of that will be going to Brentford.

Really needs to start at 10m, and even then, I have no desire to sell him. We just wouldn't be able to replace him for the same money, and that's how we should be looking at it. One thing it does show, is that he was an incredibly good signing.

Why don't people wait for things to happen/confirmed, before they get all outraged?

Shall we all get outraged that the Loch Ness monster is about to be sold to the Chinese (he's not really but I made that up)!

I'm of the old school of 'believe it when I see it'.

So far there's been nothing but unsubstantiated rumours from nobodies on Twatter or fukbook. He won't be going anywhere unless it's for really silly money.

There appears to be a sell on fee in our initial deal for O'Connell, so Brentford would get a cut of any fee.

Just let Wilder crack on with things, that's my outlook. Worked so far.

I can handle Brooks going. He was a luxury that we've cashed in on. He wasn't even a starter and we couldn't fit him into the formation. However, if O'Connell, Fleck or Coutts leave, I will have a reyt flounce. More than my kit flounce

I flounced at the Brooks sale, I would well and truly flounce if JO’C goes

It's all down to wages I'm afraid.....it is well documented that we have a "structure".....(read Peanut scale)....and that makes the transfer fee largely irrelevant.

If an agent can double or indeed treble his clients current salary then they will want to go, 95% of the time, which is perfectly understandable, family first and all that......as a result SUFC are backed into a corner and have to accept the best fee they can get.............................or of course we could just change our pay structure and pay our players a decent wage!

Don’t know why people are panicking it hasn’t been reported by James Shields in the Star yet has it? If not can’t be true can it?

Or simply tell agents to go fuck themselves and ask a player to honour their contract on the wage they agreed to.

A decent wage? To my mind, anything upwards of 50K a year is a very decent wage. That's a grand a week. I know footballers earn well, and there's a lot of money in the game, but while the general public's perception of a decent wage is, at least, a 6 figure sum, then the current situation is only going to get worse.

According to the star Brooks is on (reputedly) £30,000 per week at Bournemouth , still not sure why he left? If that is true its getting more ridiculous by the minute, how many matches has he played in the championship? I know its about following a player over a period of time to monitor his talent but it still sounds one hell of a gamble even considering premier league money. If wage size is a consideration for harmony in our dressing room isn't it in everybody elses?

He will “request a transfer” and you know you “can’t stand in their way”

We are the new Barnsley, one decent season back in the Championship , sell the crown Jewells and back to League one again within the next two or three seasons.

We may have to accept that is our level now.

That kind of money is nothing when you're guaranteed at least 100m a season there.

Does anyone fancy having a pre-season Blades get together. We could all meet at bdtbl go for walk, stop off at a few pubs and lynch Alan Nixon...
Or we could get Basil Fawlty to visit him in the small hours, and put a bat up his nightdress.

Brooks is basically taking home the average year working salary A WEEK.

I'm sure he has made the right choice financially, career wise - well....Look at Rodwell, future england star in the making.... however his bank balance probably reads 8 figures, so I'm sure he doesn't really care.

Don’t wish to cause further meltdown but Alan Nixon now claiming Brighton in for Jack now that they have been knocked back by reading for Moore (?!)

Fee £5-6m. Imo if we are serious we should be asking what reading wanted for Moore. I seriously doubt there were 6 better centreback in the championship that jack last year
That’s no problem then. All we need to do is what Reading have done and tell Brighton to feck off or pay silly money.

Shields is a lot more reliable than the twitter fake agents. He does meet with the staff at the Lane.
