Take a look at the last chart in my Matchday 36 Graphs thread from yesterday - it said it all - we have dropped 11 points on Boro between Games 28 and 36 for each of us.

These are the tables on January 27th and today:-

10 points from 8 games against Boro's 21.
But this isn't about Boro's run - it's about 10 points from 8 games.

We are just crap at defending fast breaks - and the definition of madness is to keep doing the same thing.

I think we have to get harder at the back - cover the width better - and take more risks up top.
All
our players need speed.

With a fully fit squad we need solid defensive width at the back, wide strength in midfield and risk-takers up top.

I would be looking at something like:-

Wes
George - Anel - JLT - RND
Bogle - Doyle - Lowe
Iliman - McAtee
McB

At present, we are soft as shit out wide and we just need to try something new - it can't be any worse!!

UTB & Slava Ukraini

Any line up that 'rests' Norwood, Fleck and Egan is fine by me.
Might need to hook Lowe after 10 minutes though!

Just been and looked at your Boro Gap chart in the other thread.

Your chart shows that this is our worst position relative to Boro since Game 4.

It's down to us to make some big changes.

Agree, we are so vulnerable to quick counter attacks. Maybe Hecky is already aware of this and instead of trying to outscore the opposition
He's taking a more pragmatic approach by not committing men forward anymore.

For example against Boro we did have a positive mindset and set out to blow them away.
The match turned into a basketball match and we could easily have been leading 2-0 after 15 minutes, however that attacking mindset
made us vulnerable to Boro's quick counter attacks.

You must admit when we sit back and play like how Luton played against us, we're not pretty but usually very effective.
If we park the bus and rely on our breaks, then we're capable of winning most matches 1-0.
Maybe Hecky has lost his bottle and has decided to take the cautious approach, so now the players aren't as positive anymore.

Max Lowe shouldn’t be anywhere near the first 11.. Also Bogle looks like he’s forgotten how to play football recently

Without being harsh I really hope we never see that team selection

I don't agree Egan has been our best center-backs this season. had a bad game yesterday as they all did.
But Egan has been consistent.wunt drop Anel either. wing backs defiantly needs changing.

Agree in principle, but it really doesn’t need radical change. A more attacking mindset, seriously tough midfield, and players like Berge and Ndiaye given licence to try more than just the orthodox pass.

Play McBurnie and Jebbinson up front. Give the opposition something to worry about. A lone striker just doesn’t cut it.
I look forward to RND getting back, but as I said before, it will take him time to get match fit.
