As we all (well nearly all) think we need a striker who do you think we will sign in the loan window?

Billy Sharp!
Seriously? You think he will drop into league 1?

I was disappointed that we didnt get one in last night to be honest. I suppose that Sharp may be waiting to see if he is in Southampton's named squad or not

Wilson and Clarke from Coventry. We need more than one striker, these two have proven they work well together. What's not to like?

If we couldn't buy them we've got no chance in on loan! The only way to have got them was to prey on Coventry's precarious financial position, an option now gone. I don't think things are so bad there they merely need them off the wage bill.

"money will be spent judiciously, and in any case we must comply with the Salary Cost Management Protocol."

...miracles take longer.

Not necessarily so. We could pay a loan fee up front, with an option to buy in January.

some loanee from the Premier League i bet, or Ebanks-Blake on a Free

If Ebanks-Blake is fit enough yet, I'd take him in a shot.

There will also be shedloads of good foreign players available on frees too.

I think signing Shaun Wright Phillips is the done thing in these situations.

First signing: Scouting team, proven lower league talent spotters.

Realistically we can't do anything now, Weir will probably have a few loan targets he's got his eye on but nothing major. Before the January transfer window lets get a team in place who can unearth some talent from League One and Two and make sure we're spending whatever money we get on some decent players with Championship potential. Other teams in this league seem to have the knack of finding these players and for some reason we don't.

Second signing: Doesn't Wayne Bridge usually appear at a club after an injection of cash? :-)

You would have thought now McCabe has got some money in his pocket, he could show the Prince the way and flob some cash out.

Sat here, not holding breath

just noticed Stephen Hunt is a free agent, how would people feel about having him?

I think the most important thing right now is persuading the young promising players to not want to leave. The whole plan with the new investor I believe is building a side which will get us out of League 1 and to do well in the Championship and so on. Putting Long and Maguire on longer deals is integral and we need Cuvelier and Baxter (in case they turn out any good) to stay patient with the club and help us get out of League 1.

What promising young players? I thought they all left years ago.
