Now that the anger seems to have subsided, we have had time to reflect, the summer is in full swing etc what is your current outtake on Wilson?

The poll options
- Fully behind him: will give him time to build and turn things around
- Behind Wilson/judge on results: will give him some time and breathing space, but will essentially judge oon results. If he makes positive signs (using youth, playing decent footy, change of style etc) then I'll back him medium to long term.
- Scpetical/back him for now: Sceptical, but will (begrudgingly) give him a chance. expect results fast though and will get on his back if not in the top 6 by xmas. He has to prove himself to me.
- Still absolutely against him. Will either not go (or go begrudgingly) to games and ther sooner he is gone the better.

Why?

2nd option for me. I am behind him and will give him time to build a squad if he makes the right signals. I am not expecting promotion next season. If he tries to cvhange the style, plays some decent attacing football, uses the youth, does not play the deadwood and gets some results then I will back him. Basically if he puts a plan in place to get us promoted within 2 seasons and give ourself a solid base to go from in the 2nd division.

Still against him, he's been talking a good game, but the cracks are already appearing and all he's done is make media statements! So god knows what the actual football will be like!

At least we'll have a lovely pitch and two Blades in his backroom staff :)

On the basis I've got to get behind someone it's him.

I'd like to see some evidence that we're doing something this season to change the trend of the last season and a half which has seen us do nothing but bring in players who do nothing more than add headcount and cost.

I didn't expect Wilson to be able to do anything until mid-late July as we'll have to move people on before he can bring people in. That worried me when he came in the same as it worries me now as August 7 is not far away and I can't see him being able to mount a challenge without change. I'm still sceptical that he was the right bloke to carry the changes through and I think he's behind the 8-ball on any number of fronts. Not his fault, he can only play with what he's got.

I'll be clapping like a seal come Xmas if we're there or there abouts (top 8) and showing signs of progress. I'd also love to be able to cheer him to a derby double in February - all previous allegiances would be forgotten for me if we come out fighting in both games and get something like a result.

Wilson is a poor, poor choice
Forget his S6 connections
Look at his record - Look where Swindon are playing next season !
Your only as good as your last gig - The sooner he goes the better
My belief in my beloved Blades is even lower than that fateful day v Walsall all those years ago!
As the saying might go - I am going out for a while not sure when I'll be back!

What do you mean by 'crack are already appearing?'

I,m with you on this got to give him a chance, 1 piece of deadwood out the door this week hopefully some more to follow, then we can build a stable squad.

The cracks have been in his media performances whilst some have been oscar performances the slip up of "nobody wants to go" then a few days later "he wanted to go" is the start.

Expect comments like "We want to keep hold of our best players, these players have the talent to play some lovely stuff" before he U-Turns with "We don't have the players to play pretty football, so we had to punt it long"

Come on, Swiss.....I thought you'd admitted this one.

It was "nobody has told me they want to go".

No crack to see here, move along now.

I know many don't agree, but I thought it was a crack. But then I do have an Anti Wilson Agenda... so feel free to ignore me on this :)

I don't honestly think he's the answer but will support him 100%. If he can at least get us playing proper football then it has to be a step in the right direction surely.

He the manager of our club, don't be a clapper, but we are supporters, so let's support.

Also he knew he would be facing Wendy this season before he took the job, don't you think he's got an agenda, and a point to prove which surely gives him an upper hand

I went for 4 as I have no faith in him to be honest.

I await to be proved wrong.

Ive gone for no3.

Why?

When he was appointed I was firmly in the "I wont attend while he is there" camp. Then I sat and watched the press conference a couple of times. He sort of won me over with what he said although his record is still crap at best.

If he gets us playing better football then thats a start. Still think that if we are not top 6 by christmas then there will be calls for his head. He also cant lose the wendy match at the lane

We can clear up this situation by buying swiss a box of polyfiller.

Parrot food?

Wilson certainly talks the talk. Only time will tell if he can walk the walk. I didn't want him, but now he is here I will back him, but my patience is not infinite.

Why can't we expect promotion even through play offs at season end? They keep trying to convince us we are a big club! So why not promotion.
Don't think wilsons the man to do it but will give him a chance, don't give a sod he was at wendy, it's that Swindon and Hartlepool thing that worries me!!!

36 voters but only 18 posts to explain themselves. Come on the ones who have voted but not said why. Explain your reasons?
Ollie(ithink it was) lambasted me about the way I was against Wilson from the start. Think he was probably right that I was letting wilsons piggy connections cloud my judgements

A Hartlepool fan that works for me told me that we've got a right good manager in Wilson...
Wednesday fans tell me that he's shite
I know myself that he's shite

What i don't understand Smithy is how you cxan defend the club, defend (hoofy) Adams, defend Blackwell, ask for Speed to be given more of a chance and then you slate Wilson. Adams was like a pub team manager, Blackwell's teams were awful to watch and he dismantled a good team and left us with crap on big contracts and Speed was a wet lettuce.

Wilson gets good reviews from Hartlepool, Swindon and Bristol. Barnsley fans adore him.

You are normally quite a balanced poster, but your partisan ramblings are way off at the moment.

He gets my support because I support United. Im unsure if hes the right man for the job, not because of past allegiances or records but because theres enough pressure being our manager, unfortunatley his margin for error is smaller than most due to some fans' view of his past allegiances.

I worry that he wont get enough time and we end up repeating the last season in terms of managers and relegation.

What reaction is he going to get if he doesnt win the first 3 league fixtures, positive? hmmm I think not.

There's nothing really worth commenting on stanny, 2 transfers in, 1 out, the summer's business yet to kick off and we've not seen anyone kick a ball yet. Nothing much should have changed anyone's opinion since he was appointed.

Ollie, Ollie, Ollie What you need to bear in mind is that I am not in anyway making comparisons between Wilson and any other previous manager, mainly because we haven't seen him put his squad out there yet.

However, be sure that I will make the comparisons as and when. The bar has been set now. 2 games in Blackwell was sacked, so I'll do a two game comparision, Adams got 4 months, seems only fair that his record is judged at the same time if thats the barometer that YOU like to use.

My opinion of Wilson is purely on his own record, which to be fair is hardly sparkling and no more spectacular than Adams' prior to coming to the lane and if we were replacing Adams then the replacement needed to be decent, Wilson was never the right option and I'll stand by that until he proves me entirely wrong. At which point I'll hold my hands up.

Of course Wilson has one big advantage over Adams, he's had a full preseason. We've been told by a few on here that we need to be patient, but both yourself and myself agree that time is ticking, Wilson needs to act soon and positively. Quite simply, he'll have no excuses if he doesn't get us promoted.

Wilson gets good reviews from fans elsewhere, yet he hasn't walked from that many jobs, generally pushed so it says that Chairmen don't have a lot of faith in him, even if fans do. He talks a good game...

My rhetoric all along is that clubs rarely benefit from sacking managers on a whim, stability is always a massive factor in success or not failing.

I'm not getting into this whole Blackwell/ Speed/ Carver/ Adams thing again. Snap decisions have cost us majorly and will no doubt cost us again in the near future.

Sacking managers on a whim? No idea how you can equate total and utter incompetence with a whim. Really surprised at your stance at moment. Very unhelpful to the greater good.

I'll support the team and club, as always!

Wilson doesn't exist! :)

Btw, his agenda should be the same for every match, not just the two derbies

I'm not sure about this statement, but perhaps this is how he will be judged. I'd take mid table if he made the right noises. By this I mean using the academy players, clearing out the junk, not playing the shite we have, lowering the wage bill and going for a sustainable structure, bringing in the right players from the lower leagues, getting the best from what we have, working well with Pembo and playing attacking, attractive football. Maybe not all of these, but looking like he has a plan and is gearing up for promotion the season after.

Shall i stay in for detention then sir? :)

I'm sorry I'm upsetting the grand plan Mic...

Quite simply, Wilson HAS to get us promoted and in style. It shouldn't be too difficult though should it - Full preseason, amazing the world with his free flowing football, getting the best out of the players that remain and bringing in youngsters? Afterall he's replaced an incompetent fool hasn't he?

Should be no problem for Super Danny and his amazing grass pitch...
