Well , others have faltered today , shows its not just us that can wobble a bit
We have 17 games to battle through like everyone has , lets see if that added bit of quality CW has brought in keeps us in the coveted top 2.
Lets do what we expect from our players , keep cool and focus on hat lies ahead, we get to play scunny at home and that lets us back in the title chase with the right result, 1st or 2nd will do , top is just a cherry on top
Our squad still looks the best in there , lets hope they show it

and sufc finish top and 2nd

At the moment Bolton have failed to strengthen so our new signings give us a big advantage over them. Let's hope it stays that way.

Hopefully Samir brings competition for the likes of Duffy, Fleck and Coutts and encourages them to get on top of their game.

I am super excited for samir, looked absolutely quality in his postional sense, movement ball controp and passig abilities in his tiny apperance before he was injured.

Im sure he will be slotting straight into the starting 11.

Just Coutts I reckon, maybe Duffy after an hour if he's out of touch.

Hanson threatens Lavery/ Done/ Clarke. McNulty's a non-runner.

O'Shea threatens Freeman, maybe after an hour too, at least for a while.

Riley threatens Lafferty.

I say all that and I must say that when our manager was making all these plans and decisions during December, we had a sound defence. That's no longer the case so perhaps we will not go as expansive as he had hoped for.

I'd be happy for us to revert back to our best team tbh.
Sharp and done up top to start, see where that takes us.
Moan all you like, but it's given us the most points from starting.
If the record isn't broken, leave it playing.

Freeman doesn't play in attacking midfield.

Ricky. Have we been here before? And I did say "after an hour or so"

You define what a wing back is and I'll give you my definition.

Also, who's to say we are sticking with 3-5-2?

If we play 4-4-2 do you think Freeman will be picked as the right full back?

None of us know, but if that's all you disagree with in that post of mine I'd be amazed.

A wing back is not an attacking midfielder. Wing backs have defensive responsibility.

O'Shea is strictly an attacking midfielder. He's not noted for his defensive attributes.

Freeman would obviously play RB in any back 4.

O'Shea is competition for Duffy primarily, also a wide option (but not in 3-5-2) and possibly an option playing off Sharp.

Carruthers covers every midfield position but is probably most likely to replace Coutts.

Riley is the competition to Freeman, as well as Lafferty.

This week

Are you sure he stipulated 3-5-2 or rather 'the way we play'. There is a difference.

Personally I hope we continue with 3-5-2 but we all know it can easily be changed during a game which is going the wrong way. O'Shea gives us options in 3-5-2 and particularly in 4-4-2.

No he didn't stipulate formation but I'd be very surprised if he went 4 at the back as our defence is shit

It would be interesting to see us play with 4 at the back.. Not good, but interesting.

Seems that they're hopeful of getting a striker in (Dominic Samuel mentioned here), & are holding out for getting Sammy Ameobi back for the second half of the season.

Bizarrely, the way their "transfer embargo" seems to work is that it involves one-out one-in (in that their squad size seems to be restricted to 23 players) rather than having any relation to finances. Apparently they left Chris Taylor out today, amid rumours he's off to Oldham - which would free up a squad space for them to bring someone in.

Samuel's a good player but I'll be happy enough as long as they don't get Ameobi back.

I'm thinking that we should've maybe tried to take Ameobi.

How they got Ameobi when approaching administration is something needs to be looked by the authorities.

See I'd like us to play 4 at the back.
Wing backs are great but they are leaving our back 3 exposes, mainly by pace.
It's all well and good playing 5 in the middle but none were specifically holding players. If we play Hanson I'd like to see wingers uses again. I'm not sure we really have specialises traditional wingers any more but we need to start crossing the ball more.

Riley, Carruthers, O'Shea will all certainly give us some depth to the squad. Hanson as well, but i have a huge question mark over him, which i will explain below.

The other three though can all enhance the 1st team, hopefully being there ready to put pressure on the current best XI and when called upon, can step in and do a job.

Coutts, Fleck and Duffy have all worked really hard this season and niggles will be taking their toll. One thing is clear, Wilder has got the team fitter than they have been in years (Since Warnock really) and its helping players to keep injury free as well as finishing games strongly and cope with busy fixture periods, like Christmas. So having options to come in will be a big boost, we don't have to risk players or play them with niggles. Currently, nobody will be wanting a rest.

The 10 days break which we've got will be a huge bonus, possibly getting some time in the sun to train and work on things, get through the niggles and flush the lactic acid out of the legs, as well as clear the minds after 3 bad results.

So onto Hanson. He will get goals, but i have a reservation over how we will play him and how the team will play with him. Bradford fans i've spoken with think that the team there went more direct with him in the side, which reduced the chances created. We've done the same with Henderson and Cresswell in the past.

I hope that we continue to play the wilder way which we've seen so far, but with Hanson there will be a tendency to lump it a bit more

I always think a chelseas ivanovic and man citys zabaleta as whats good in overlapping backs
I think its how CW sees Dones future contribution , he started at the back and went further forward, why not do both
Freema raiding forward enhances our attacks , but it can leave us light at the back , but it works more than it breaks down

Surely Riley has the quality to take over the left wing back slot. Mourinho would not be happy if he doesn't get game time.

looking forward to him getting in , which is far more likely due to recent events
CW just be thinking not to over change the team in one go

On the other hand the team looked dispirited last game and he will have had 10 days to get them ready.

I think Carruthers and Riley will become first choice quickly and maybe even Hanson whose inclusion will signal a greater variation of attacks and some presence for crosses into the box, particularly from O'Shea when he's introduced.

Loads of options and there is a need to be settled by the time we play Bolton and Scunny.
