I'm not complaining. It was fairly obvious that Coventry's tactics left them woefully exposed at the back. They were clearly unable to cope with Campbell's movement and Hamer's quick passing. They made a great start to the second half, but I was confident that when they turned the ball over, we would swiftly get in behind them again. But, hey ho, Fat Frank is a managerial genius.

If we are solid and recruit some quality upon promotion no reason to think we couldn't give it a very real go at staying up

Lampard spoke afterwards about how good we were on the transition from defending to attacking (“we knew they were going to be”) and tbf he wasn’t wrong. We seemed to be set up incredibly well to break and whether this is prep for next season or just a style suited to our current players it worked very well yesterday. Coventry had 58% possession last night but never threatened us really while we took our opportunities to carve them open and should’ve had more. 5-0 wouldn’t have flattered us.

Apparently Coventry have scored the most goals from crosses into the box..stopping the crosses at source is the main thing..but the crosses that did come in were really well defended..so maybe worked on stopping at source and positioning for crosses that do come in.

Yeah, but that was our problem last season…We didn’t really pose any whatsoever, which allowed the opposition to outnumber us by committing defenders forward without any real fear of getting caught out.

Did you go for a really long shit and miss all the bits where they were just hoofing it forward and we were completely out playing them? We were better organised, had better players and played better football, should have been three nowt as there's was a foul on our keeper, could have been six had we taken out chances better.

I agree we've struggled in games but we didn't last night.

That 2019 / 2020 side we had competed with the elite athletes of the premier league despite the apparent gulf in quality, until COVID hit. Then we looked a different side. Lethargic & unable to keep the pace of the game saw us ultimately relegated the season after and I don’t think we ever really recovered from that.

It’s the first thing I’d like to see United address should we get promoted.

Its actually a reason I'd look to keep hold of Choudary - we'll be needing A LOT of that last ditch tackling/breaking up play if we are to go up and that is something he excels at.

This was clear in the first half, particularly up until our goals - we just scored at right times to stifle this. I try to refrain from stats but either way, I don't think the post can be argued.

I think our tactic was clear, we let Coventry try and control the game knowing that as they push up we will pick them off. In the end it was all too comfortable and they played right into our hands.

When we got these chances, Coventry couldn't cope with us.

You can bet Wilder has already thought about how we might tackle the Premier league and what’s needed.

It’s not been mentioned but we have a massive advantage if we are promoted because we have a manager

We've been doing this all season, the teams who play possession football are allowed to keep hold of the ball, we apply pressure, force them into mistakes and then break quickly once they've commited. I'm hoping this is a well thought out transition to next season if we go up.

He's got a bit of a positive spin on that 2020/21 season. My recollection is that teams would go 1-0 up against us and then know that the game was won. With no fans in the stadia there was little pressure on them to really turn the screw. All that was possible because we were so toothless in attack: Wilderball 1.0 was well and truly beaten by October 2020 but we persisted with it all the way to 23 points...and a huge 20 goals scored.
