We can’t finish 3rd, we all know what happens with play offs, after the last couple of play off campaigns, even the most optimistic blades who used to say “we’ve got to win them one day” have disappeared.

If ever we're going to win the play-offs it would be with these players and this management team. We would be the best team whoever we play, that hasn't always been the case. We have a manager who doesn't chop and change tactics and play 'try not to lose' football. My only fear would be that if we don't make top 2 there would be initial disappointment around the squad and we'd potentially be up against a team who finished 6 on a high and on a roll.

There's still plenty of twists and turns before all that nonsense though, starting with tonight and a small game on Satdi, let's just see how it pans out.............

The fifth and six clubs should play over two legs to see who is going to play the fourth place club over one leg.

Yeah, we say this every year. Also, you could bring back 3rd in Chumpionship plays 3rd bottom in Prem.

This can't be said enough. Birmingham away last season really brought it home how defeatist we are as a fanbase. As soon as the game started going against us, the fans fell totally silent. Same at Forest this season. Go behind, give up.

We weren't like that in 02/03 because we knew we had a team that was never beaten. This team's the same so we should give them the same level of respect.

Of course there'll be nerves if we're in the play-offs but we don't need the negative energy that giving up on this amazing team and harking back to a past with a different set of players brings.

Forget anything that's gone before and start trusting and backing this team.

What does history have to do with it though? We don't have Dany Wilson or Chris Porter lingering over us still.
We go into it a completely different team, squad and almost club.

Last thing we need is fans shitting themselves waiting for it ''all to go wrong". We've had this attitude for far too long and it inevitably transfers to the players. If we go into play off games with this attitude we'll get murdered. As Wilder said, this is a different team with different management. Time to forget about what's gone before.

Considering the relative budgets of the teams around we shouldn't be anywhere near the play-offs, never mind competing for automatic promotion. If we end up in the play-offs just enjoy it, this is all a bonus.

An example of the different times we are living in is Dean Henderson. When he chucked that goal in for Leeds at the Lane in December the default position I expected us to take with him as a young on loan GK would be to destroy him... ironic cheering every time he claimed an easy catch, blaming him for every subsequent goal etc.

Instead as a fanbase we largely wrote it off, got behind him and his record this season speaks for itself.

I don't want us to walk around with bizarre delusions of grandeur like our risible friends across the city but I wonder how people cope with this dour defeatist attitude watching games in a near catatonic state waiting for something to go wrong. It wasn't always like this.
