I'm normally negative but thought we were good today. A good striker away from winning comfortably
I’d say a good striker and a higher tempo, but was by no means a bad performance.

Millwall are 1 point behind us.
Middlesbrough have a game in hand.
Millwall play Birmingham away who have just been hit for 6, then play Peterborough at home, granted Bournemouth is tough but I can still see them getting 6 points.
Middlesbrough play Swansea and Preston away with Cardiff and Stoke at home can easily see them picking points up.
I agree Cardiff is a must win game but I think failing to beat a poor Bristol City side today will be what actually costs us a place in the play offs.

All we had to do was win one of the two games and beat Cardiff and we would have been in but 1/6 is appalling. A dreadful Easter. You could not pick 2 better fixtures and we have fucked them up.

Come Saturday when we beat Cardiff, and both Millwall and Boro have both lost away from home things will start to look clearer 🙏

I fancy us

I was thinking if Billy had either the Ndiaye chance or the MGW chance, he'd have had the presence of mind to score both.
Billy’s injury has really come at a bad time - there’s an argument that Bogle was a big loss and Brewster was starting to really get into gear but the injury to Billy has really cost us.

It’s games like today that show how much we miss him.

We've just got 1 point from two terrible sides and won 2 in 7. I don't see how anyone thinks we can somehow put 3 wins together (or even 2 and a draw). Im aware football isn't like that and weird things happen so you can't give up hope but nothing suggests we are getting top 6. I think Millwall will have to do something pretty crazy to throw it away now.

It's still in our hands. Millwall aren't flying but are probably on the best run out of the contenders. Blackburn & Middlesbrough look beaten but Boro still have a shout with the game in hand.

Our goal difference could be crucial here provided Fulham don't spank us. Think two wins would be enough but not sure we have that in us now?

I’m just back from Bristol and thought we did OK actually. Looked more like a unit and Robinson and Basham balanced us up. ( Bash howler excluded!) Compared to the Saturday horror show much better and I guess I sit in the camp of we are somehow better off tonight than last night ! Onwards ! It’s also my last away game in the league as away for a few days when it’s QPR. Keep the faith Blades we might just somehow get up !

Fucking hell Roy you have ruined my night

Millwall have nothing to throw away as they are not in a playoff spot, we are. Btw millwall lost 3-2 away to Bristol City, their away form is poor also. So for me they draw at brum, win at home to peterboro and lose at bournemouth. Thats 4 points. We will need to pick up in form but i do think we will beat cardiff at home, get a point at qpr and god knows what will happen at home to fulham!

I thought the first half was better than the second, but to be fair if Basham puts that in the stand, they don't go on to score their goal. Then it became a counter-attacking game. We know we tend to struggle when we go behind. I thought it was a much better display than the one vs Reading.

We're also always going to be vulnerable to counter attacks when you consider Basham and Robinson were getting into the box more often today. We lack the pace and legs to get back, I really think this is why at times we've played with the handbrake on with the extra midfielder.

Gibbs-White is tricky, he's certainly got the highest level of skill in that 11 but even he's not got super pace. Nor has N'Diaye. When you consider we have our top scorer out, no available fit striker and a bench which is scarce of real experience in the attacking department, I think we're doing as well as we can be. We still have a chance, but we have to beat Cardiff and QPR for me now.

I am not sure what our fans expect when we literally have every first team striker out injured.

We are not Man City and we can't expect to win matches without a striker.

Assuming youngsters are going to walk in and fix the problem is deluded at best.

We are lucky to be where we are, injuries are part and parcel of a football season but show me any club that has had their entire strike force out injured for a sustained period of time all at the same time.

We were superb first half. Really good football everywhere on the pitch. I can’t believe ndaiye missed so badly and Berge should have shot with his left when round the keeper. Second half was worse as they were dangerous on the counter attack. Still a good comeback as I thought we would lose after being 1-0 down. Still lots of positives utb.

don't get how our fans can see other team win easily when Boro have scored 1 goal in their last 5 games and Millwalls lost more than we have since January
didn't see Blackburn losing at home to stoke. or Boro losing at home. forest looked poor at luton.
all teams are under pressure.
We might just get back players in time for the finish where we have the pole position
Boro have a game in hand but need to score 6 to overtake us on GD
beat Cardiff and it halves the number of clubs who can catch us

Agreed. Nothing is certain, all still to play for. We MUST win on Saturday though.

We were OK, nothing more. Basham doing his best Jack Robinson impression was what screwed it up and our general panic every time they went forward on the counter when they should have had a second and put the game to bed.

All very neat and tidy, tippy tappy and easy on the eye but no idea what to do when we're within 18 yards of the opposition goal. After all the tipping and tapping, the goal came from a rebound which kind of sums up what works and what doesn't.

We simply lack ruthlessness when we should have been home and dry by half time ourselves.

What will define us over the next year or so will be -
Fluking our way up through the play offs, doing some yo-yoing and banking the cash each time
If we don't go up, who we replace MGW with who can have anywhere near the same influence. Lawrence at Derby is the only player I can think of who we could possibly get to fill that void.

Surely it’s the same logic as going from top of the form table to to winning 2 in 7?

Hit the target when confronted with with just the keeper in a gaping net. At the least make the keeper save it, and it could rebound anywhere. Don't let your head go back like an excitable schoolboy when shooting. Yes, you Mr Ndiaye... (see Lucas Joao last Satdi as an example. Or pretty much any shot Alan Shearer ever had. Basic technique I think..)

Was reasonably pleased with the performance yesterday, certainly a vast improvement on Reading but as some have said, 1 point from 2 games v Reading & Bristol City is a shocking return for a side pushing to secure a play-off place.

Couple of observations,

Ndaiye miss was a howler, Billy, MGW even McB scores that every time.

Bash, as much as I was pleased to see him back made a shocking error that I don't think Uremovic would have, Hecky confirmed that "getting Bash through 90 minutes was a major achievement" which showed he wasn't ready so why bench an International defender that hadn't done much wrong? Bad decision.

We missed not only a decent striker but PACE but there again what's new...Bristol showed how much someone with pace can create chances....just like many teams have this season.

And just once in a while would someone just fucking shoot! It showed what can happen when MGW scored from the rebound...

win our last 3 no one can stop us
Boro can if they win all their games, we need to win every game and hope we have a better goal difference. Can anyone actually see us beating QPR away or Fulham, Cardiff is a maybe at the moment. Two wins and a draw and Millwall can catch us if they win all three of their games.

Said it for the last 3 months, we need 73 points....minimum...and even that might not be enough.

2 wins and a draw from the last 3........no, I can't see it either...

If we get promoted we'll be set for a Derby county 11 points season but on the other hand if we don't go up we could be like one of the many recent premier League teams that finish mid table in the championship and just fester for years. If we go up we would hopefully be able to sign some better players but hopefully not with breaking the bank like we have done last time out.
Sign better players, definitely but where will the money come from?
