The joke was all too conspicuous. It styles itself with supreme accuracy as a "shithouse"

The foolish, ill-informed, agenda-fuelled statement was made by the joke. Jokes like that have become a little too frequent on here. We could well do without them.

And yet you run and cry when in my presence. How embarrassing for you.....

In a parallel universe the OP is probably spot on but here on Planet Earth I don't understand what all the misery is about. Admittedly Oldham didn't play fair by simply letting us have 100% of the ball in the first half but we still played some good stuff. The one-touch football ending with Done's centre onto Billy Sharp's head, from which we should have scored, was great and we were well on top at the end of the half.

I was relaxed at half time because I expected us to improve, and for Oldham to get tired, and for us to win. That's exactly what happened. The back three were solid as rocks, Moore inspires confidence in goal and I thought Danny Lafferty had a storming game. Billy's first goal was brilliant and worth paying to get in for on its own.

Epicurus said: Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

He was a wise man and also knew the difference between "uninterested" and "disinterested" which we'll not go into except to say that neither word applied to the Blades team that I watched today.

Agree with you there about the 2-0's but 15 crappy 1-0's via deflected arse cheek deflections would be too much for me to cope with. I sometimes find it hard to relax when we're 2-0 and running rings around the opposition in the 96th minute.

It's a Blade's thing you see.

Me an'all I was nervous as fuck today even after 2-0 and we were cruising really

Seemed to me Fleck didn't want to know today either.
He was regularly waving defenders to pass wide or over the top when it was him that needed make the effort to get in space and move the ball on.
Wilders words about our 3rd/4th pass going astray were right, normally the ball has gone through Coutts and Fleck before the wing or up front. Today it rarely did.
I am no fan of his but Clark helped change the game today.

Fleck was quiet today.........fuck Pigs have scored

I want to see quality football and this side is playing the best football since Quinn, Williamson and Mcdonald spent 2011/2012 tearing teams apart.

Oldham turned up today and put up a fight but that happens in this league from time to time.

I didn't really see the "lack of pride" and clearly Wilder didn't either, he seems a bit of a straight talker to me and pretty much praised their efforts on a day when the passing range was off key.

I'm interested solely in what's best for our club, mate. I'm not sure how much more evidence people need to come to a common-sense conclusion about Done. The 'contributes to team' and 'always win when he plays' (last two victories achieved once he'd been hooked) lines are becoming threadbare. Perhaps when his record is stretched to 2 in 50 even the Runarounders might realise he's a talentless mediocrity who had one flash in the pan season.

I understand your (almost obsessional) point re Done, yet can't help see what he does bring. Yes,as a striker he dosen't,but denying the opposition any space and time at the back allowing us to sit high up the pitch has huge value. I noted how Clarkes lack of interest in closing down their RB today led directly to their best goalscoring opportunity and Moore pulled off a cracking save.
I don't see Clarke working with Billy week in week out, maybe he could. I think Lavery brings Dones energy and hopefully more of a goal threat.
I'm sure Wilder will find the right chemistry. He's got very, very little wrong so far.

Not at all. Ten a penny internet bullies like you are mere candidates for my fly-swatter. I've told you often enough that you're a numpty; a malicious cunt and a piece of unmitigated shit. So you are and so you will remain until further notice. There will be no further notice.

In the unlikely event that I want to chat to an amoeba with special needs I'll be sure to give you a call. Don't wait by the phone, though.

Let's be honest,we were utter gash for 45 minutes. We can't play the "They parked the bus card", because give them credit, they didn't.
Our midfield was slow, static and largely disinterested and our standards were woeful. I fail to understand how professionals can take so little pride or interest in their jobs in front of a bumper crowd and an opportunity to keep them with a display of spaekling attacking football and a few goals. No this is Sheffield United.
Wilders half time team talk should have consisted of 10 well aimed kicks up arses,(I exempt Moore) and nothing more.
The introduction of Clarke actually paid off although in honesty I'd have hoped for Lavery.
One thing I noticed was how Clarke does absolutely none of Dones off the ball work which at one point led to Oldham bringing out an excellent save from Moore.
1 out of 10 first half.
7 out of 10 second.
We need to take hold of games from the get go at home. Today was piss poor with massive over elaboration and lack of off the ball movement throughout.
3 points but yet again we fail to deliver in front of a big crowd.
Thank God for Billy.
Everything is relative though SBT.

If you'd had the misfortune to have attended more games last season, you'd have had to redefine the word 'gash' mate.

The way I saw it was that we played poorly in the first half, in fact I'd go so far as to say Oldham were the better team.

Coutts and Fleck had off days today and that showed in our overall performance, but credit where it's due, we rallied and in the last 30 mins we were clearly the better team - once Duffy gets on the ball things happen.

Finally, we saw the value of a goalscorer today. Without Billy there's every chance that we would have only taken a point.

Not at our best, but 3 points, a clean sheet and a big crowd. Lots to be happy about.

Oh I won't, your cowardice and yellow streak precedes you.

It must eat away at you that I'm half your age and possess double your intelligence. Move along you dinosaur, you're a spent force and we all know it.

I attended more than anyone should have had to Gray. And since when has "That was shit but we got 3 points" acceptable?
That is no way to go forward. I'm sick to death of "We were crap but squeezed 3 points". That dosen't apply this season very often, but its a shit mantra for success. I call what I see. Sad if people find criticism of our precious boys unpalatable. Suck it up I say.

Clarke held the ball up very well. He directly assisted the second goal. The team performed better and was more effective with Leon on the pitch than it was with Done. That argument is unassailable, isn't it? Ironically that's the argument put forward for Done isn't it?

Do let me know, by the way, if you have a problem with ''mate", won't you? If not, your pet amoeba might want to keep his fucking obnoxious snout out of matters that ought not to be troubling his tiny intellectual processes.

Shame most of the 5k on top of our normal crowd got little reason to return.

Oldham today reminded me of us in the Premiership. For most of the game they made a much higher ranked side look very average. Fleck had one of his worse games and we depend on him a lot when we're trying to get control of the ball. Coutts wasn't great either. But, to keep the comparison going, like many of our Prem games where we were eventually shot down by a player that was a class above anything in our side, Duffy (having had a poor start to the game and grown into the best player on the pitch) goes knee, flick over the top, and Sharp nearly breaks the net. And then you saw that look on the Oldham players that said "Shit, that's our game plan fucked.". Maybe if a couple of their players hadn't wasted half the game by taking a brief nap in the middle of the pitch we would've had time to make it four again.

Worth saying that O'Connel was excellent for me. Love having a bruiser like him in the mix. Overall, we didn't create nearly as many chances as we've been used to of late and it won't go down as one of the memorable games of this season. Where I give us a lot of credit, and take a lot of satisfaction, is from the knowledge that right now we're always capable of producing something. Oldham can make us look average for 2/3's of a game and leave knowing that's a good 1/3 short of having anything to show for it.

We didn't fluke today. We won because we have players with ability that they don't.

Oh have I made you cry yet again? You could always beg me to leave like you did on the shoutbox a few months ago.

I've got you by the bollocks "mate".

Edit *although "bollocks" is giving you too much credit.

Why are you abusing me? Im attempting to have a conversation with you and cant see why you deem it appropriate to drag me into some issue you have with another poster.
Never mind.

Yer daft bugger we won 2-0 today.

I'm not abusing you! Where do you get that from? I certainly didn't intend to. Just wondering if your silly little friend was correct in taking up arms on your behalf? Nothing more.

Didn't go today, no transport, so total respect to those that did but surely a key question hanging in the ether is if we are good enough to beat Scunny and Bolton in February if we keep playing as we are. If so no probs but I suspect a few posters and me are concerned we might need to change a few things and maybe bring a couple of new faces to achieve this. Its OK struggling and narrowly beating lower sides but we've not yet been tested against a top side at home which might prove crucial by the end of the season. Push on now Mr McCabe/HRH please, waiting until the summer may be too late (again).

Yer enjoying yerself tonight aren't you Pinchy, slow down on the ale for fucks sake

No, I do it for recreation as it happens. You're a low-hanging fruit.

I didn't realise that we had to up our game to royally entertain the missing 5k who have suddenly come crawling back out of the woodwork.

It does seem to me like you are the first one to become critical of United, I don't know what it is with you, from where I'm standing we managed to get another 3 points from a scrappy game. We can't play well all the time, but winning when we haven't played particularly well strikes me as a trait of a side who look destined for promotion. In all probability we will be heading in to the new year either top or 4 points clear of third place, and for the first time in a long time, we all seem to be pulling together in the same direction. It is still a work in progress but trying to pull United down and constantly looking for the negatives when things are going well isn't very productive is it.
