Not being negative but I now think Boro will take 2nd now šŸ˜”

Yes

Why do Boro seem to average about 20% more possession than us, despite not having technically superior footballers ?
Well recently we've been playing top 6 clubs well they have been playing tripe
Don't forget our game in hand is Preston at home...I expect us to win that like they were expected to yesterday
Last 4 games we play 3 bottom 6 teams so they will need to be well in front to beat us to the finish line

Our last 6 fixtures are very favourable. 4 at home and the 2 away are Huddersfield and Birmingham.
If we can get 2 wins out of our next 3 (Norwich(A) Wigan(H) Burnley(A)) then we’re in dreamland!
A 6pt lead going into the last 9 games is a great position to be in.

Our game in hand is West Brom isn't it? Should have played them yesterday but it was moved because of the cup?

Boro could easily win 7 of the next 9. The odd wrong result here and there, but its 3 goals a game on and on.

Just wondering...... if Akpom and Archer can single handedly blow teams away every fucking game, why can't Ndiaye and McBurnie do similar for us?

The combined ability level isn't all that different

Yet Boro win every game 3-1, while we're lucky to scrape a 1-0
because those 2 are clinical finishers illiman and mcburnie arent if we had had those 2 up front we would have been up by now plus boro create more chances for them with their midfield that ours do ive thought from the start of this season we needed at least 1 more clinical striker to come in

Weird another Boro fan made this thread to just be a doyle.

As another Boro fan who's talked to plenty of Sheff Utd fans (I drink in the WMC coaches stopped at before Sunderland and our game) I'm going to hopefully provide a more balanced opinion.

I still don't think we'll finish 2nd, i already have hotel and trains booked for Wembley. There's been moments, before the WBA game and Stoke, where i thought 3 points would heap the pressure on and could maybe cause a slip for your lads but that win Wednesday, albeit with an offside goal, swung the momentum massively in your favour.

I'm just happy to be playing for something at this point of the season with the shocking start we had.

Preston h .is one of our remaining games So we have that to level up their easy win

but you have a 3 point lead with 9 games to go. games in hand should never be taken as points won. even against a lesser team. looking at the fixtures and thinking the bottom teams will be easier games is also a bad idea. they will be fighting for their lives against relegation. no team should be taken for granted normally but to do it at the tale end of the season is dangerous. hopefully the players are more professional than us fans and it doesn't effect them, but i bet it does. i've seen Boro struggle against dross especially at the back end of the season.

There’s not much different between having 6 points and both 9 games to play and your opponent taking 3 points off Preston and playing a game more and you still getting to play them! I read their striker made 3 successful passes. Can’t wait for us to play them and top up our goal difference!

Think Carrick has done an impressive job and will take it right to the wire

In many ways its better to be the chaser, the pressures on us and if we fuck up I'm sure you will take advantage

Yeah I fully appreciate what you’re saying.
My post was more aimed at the Sheff U supporters.
Before this round of fixtures we had a 6 point lead WE had 9 games to go.
That was the perspective I was going for.

you couldnt wait to play reading after we smashed them 5-0. then you scrapped past them by one goal. not trying to be anti blades by any means. its just football. just because they were woeful against us. doesnt mean that same team will play woeful vs blades.
i remember years ago. manu smashed forest 7-1 i think, then a week later they (forest) drew 1-1 with newcaslte. keegan was moaning that forest just rolled over for manu but put in a proper battling performance against them.
as a blade you shouldnt be taking any 3 points for granted at all. if you do, you know fine will it will end in defeat. i'm same. each game depends on the how the team is on that day.

anyway its just take each game as it comes and dont think about anything else for me. i'm getting nervous every game now. its great we are slapping teams like preston easily. must take the pressure off ourselves a bit. keeps us fresher. in recent years we couldnt score enough and even when dominating teams they were always within a goal of us in many games. everyone is prone to concede the odd goal. made every gam tense. which i think has to take its toll. great result for both teams today though. was hoping you would get to the semi's. i think that means you have 3 games a week right until the ned of the season now. which is a very tough run of games to try and maintain the high standards.

Don't give a fuck what boro do as long as we do what's needed and i think we will

Sheffield United like difficult….and we are finding form and energy again…stick to your own board. Cheers fella šŸ‘

Gonna be a tough run in, true.....but today's win, and the manner of it has made promotion feel much more likely.... The buzz about the place, and seeing the team step up. Thanks for the concern though šŸ‘

i think your right its one game at a time for united and boro and still think its 50/50 as to who gets 2nd spot if anything our cup run might just tilt it in boros favour but with 5 out of the 9 games at home for us its still in our own hands the fact doyle and mcatee cant play against city might actually not be a bad thing for us their both on top of their games just now and will start every league game for us

Don't get me wrong it does depend.

It was somewhat fortunate for Boro that Preston didn't turn up. They were nothing like this supposed team that is rigid defensively and keeps it tight. The marking on the first was awful, just let him waltz through. The second laughable then of course the game was up.

I'd say at that point it was more down to them not doing the basics than Boro being anything special. Up to 2-0 I think the most ardent Boro fan would have been disappointed with the performance if not the scoreline.

If course the press love narratives. Boro thump Preston. But in truth Preston gave Boro a 2 goal start and from there heads dropped.

After that Boro relaxed and played better but so would most teams with a 2 goal start.

You mentioned Reading but Reading's form is well known. Awful away. Excellent at home.

Not much longer to wait now either way.

April looks an absolute monster month for games!
