This lad is meant to be highly rated up north and yes I know he's a pervert and has been sacked and will get ridiculed by fans at every game but, is he not worth a punt on a free?

Paddy Kenny coped ok with that, it would be better to be ridiculed for off field behaviour than on field performance (vis Jordan Stewart etc). There is probably potential there if he can sort himself out, but would the club be willing...
 
Do you really think any squad would accept him in their ranks? No club would dare touch him. I think his professional career maybe on hold for a few years, maybe even for good.
 
Personally I wouldn't want someone found guilty of those sort of offences anywhere near this club.
 
Is there something in the water at hearts anyway? Graham Rix, Craig Thomson.....
 
Given he would have to run under a club badge with The Family Club beneath it every home game, probably worth avoiding...
 
Why would anybody want someone like that at our club, I know we are desperate but surley we should avoid such players.

It should be noted that as things currently stand, Craig Thomson has only actually been found guilty of two offences namely sending two underage girls pictures of his Willy via facebook, Thomson was 18 at the time.

CT was fined £4000 (£2000 for each offence).

What Thomson did was very wrong and Hearts have belatedly made the right decision to sack him, however the media portrayal of him as a dangerous, serial groomer of children for sex is not consistent with either the charges he faced or the punishment he was given.

However, does that mean he should never work again?

He obviously needs both some sort of counselling and to grow up, but maybe everyone deserves a second chance?
 



I'm not suggesting he shouldn't ever work again, let him do something useful for the community but never let him anywhere near children

And the girls were 12 and 14. No excuses I'm afraid. I don't believe he deserves a second chance.
 
Definitely no excuses with the 12 year old, but i knew girls at school that were dating guys 4 years older than them.
 
He was at school with the 14 year old and the 12 year old was her sister.

At the end of the day, what CT did was wrong but it probably ranks as extreme stupidity rather than inherent evil.

This is reflected in his punishment of a £4k fine.

Many people would argue he derserves to be lynched for what he did, never mind being able to fucking work again.
 
I am not trying to downplay what he did, however, I am trying to give some balance in terms of media coverage which completely disregards the facts of what he was charged with and found guilty of.

I believe from an employment perspective Thomson was guilty of gross misconduct and Hearts made a pigs ear with their attempts to manage the situation.

Does he deserve a second chance, I believe he does, although it would be a very brave club that signed him given the baggage he brings. However, I believe that on the football hall of shame he is certainly no worse than Lee Hughes or Marlon King who have been reintegrated.

At the end of the day a judge on consideration of all the facts fined him £4k, yet you believe he should face the death penalty!
 
Blades Hearts - yeah you can play it down and perhaps there may have been an element of stupidity and naivety in it all. But at the end of the day he was and is an adult, the girls were kids, barely in their teens. He should know much better and is being punished (albeit lightly in terms of the fine) but he's on the sex offenders register now so will be almost unemployable.

I'm sure as a young footballer there were plenty of girls over 16 willing to look at his cock, no excuses. Deserves all he gets

Swiss, you are pretty much spot on with all you say, however at what point is his punishment considered sufficient?

He will have to live with the shame and embarassment all his life, is it really realistic to expect that at 19 he should never be allowed to work again either?
 



I dont condone what he has done, i merely opened it up for debate as afterall, this is a forum.

Just to throw something else in the mix. If you get caught streaking at a sporting event now (i.e. Bramall Lane) you are placed on the sex offenders register. Should they never work again or face the death penalty? Even the big breasted female varieties!!!

Same punishment here i'm afraid.
