Norwood

Southampton were awful yet they still managed to beat us. Premier league teams punish our mistakes but we don’t seem to be able to do the same to them. We literally dominate games and are clearly the better team but we are not clinical enough. McGoldrick has missed 2 sitters and they have taken there only chance of the game... that is the difference in premier league and we need to get to that level quick or we will be straight back down.
Not quite the case - Adam’s hit the post with Hendo beaten and Hendo also made a world class, Banksesque save from the header. Could easily have been 3-3 at HT

The flat 3 doesn’t suit us enough.

We are forgetting what worked for us.

Fleck wins the ball. Gives it Norwood to distribute the ball. The likes of our number 10 would receive the ball and create an opening.

Now it’s stuck too long in midfield, the ball is lost and no one makes enough effort to win it back. They look at the defenders hoping they will save their arse and if they don’t a goal is conceded. Which is pretty much what happened for their goal.

Wilder needs to wake up and smell the coffee. A flat 3 away from home maybe but at home we have to stay true to what got us promoted twice.

Norwood has been good but I think we saw today how a premier league holding midfielder can control a game. Romeu was excellent for them took the ball recycled it and tackled where needed. He's one of those players that makes the game look easy as he's always in the right place and does the basics well. For me he was a level above everyone on the pitch.
I thought Romeu was surprisingly poor and was carried by an excellent Hojbjerg.

He isn’t as effective because we are playing 3-5-2 and not 3-4-1-2. Revert to how we were successful and we will see improvements in everyone.

This negative approach is worryingly Warnock.
Not a matter of being negative teams in this division have stronger midfield so we have to compete in there or we will get overrun.
We are creating openings and chances and at the moment we are not taking enough of them and conceding poor goals.Teams in this division punish you if you make the elementary mistakes we are marking.
No one has took us to the cleaners and we have been in every game , come on fellow blades ! Wilder will do his best to put it right we are not far away, some fans lose there beleaf very quickly as has happened in every season under Wilder ! give him a bit of slack he has earned that surely.

And whilst I don’t disagree wit anything you said, I don’t feel we are giving ourselves a chance to play to our best. Can anyone say we have been at our best in any game this season?

I believe that’s downto our change in shape which doesn’t suit us. Why were we successful last year? 3-4-1-2. Norwood was in EFL team of the year as part of that formation. He wants runners in front of him, not beside him. We know the flat three makes us much less dynamic and yet he does persist with it a lot. I get it away and chelseaa, but we need to have that no.10 for winnable home games.

Norwood is our playmaker, we have nobody else like him. Lunny has had a good start to the season but was poor today.
Not read all the thread as yet but I think that this is what Morrison was brought in for so, in my opinion, we do have someone else like him. It may be time to try Ravel to see what he can do and to get Ollie Norwood out of his comfort zone.

The only reason we lost was because we missed a hat full of really good chances, and I include Fleck in this for failing to make the right decisions when he was in dangerous positions and for failing to keep his header on target. Baldock failed to control a worldy pass that would have put him through on goal. I can't remember a game when we created so many cast-iron opportunities so to blame the creators is a bit daft, in my opinion. OK, the goal we conceded was a cock up, but we could have won 4-1 on another day.

I can tell that you're new to this scapegoating lark

In my opinion Norwood has looked off since first day of the premiership, his passing and general play has not been up to the standard we became use to in the Championship he seems abit light weight and to happy to pass it sideways and back and short, rather than forward thinking creativity, could this be the reason he never made it with his previous teams in the Premiership?

One pass aside he was excellent on Saturday.

One pass aside he was excellent on Saturday.

One pass aside his passing was excellent on Saturday the other part of being a footballer, general positioning, Strength in the tackle disrupting the opponents attacks was not so good on Saturday.

On far to many occasions he got skinned out wide on the halfway line to get us countered he just dove in every time & let them come inside, just push them out of play or watch them down the line till back up arrives.

Saturday is another game UTB!

As I and most others got our humble pie regarding Lundstram I’m still baffled at the number of doubters Norwood has. What this man has done for our club has been staggering and in regards to defensive, passing play and chance creation he is number 1 in all our stats and this is after being played in a different system in a more central position this season. The people that constantly moan about him either have no idea about modern football or have a weird personal agenda but never will these people face the opposition that me and others (deservedly) got for our dislike of Lundstram despite Norwood being a integral part of our team and style of play for the past year or so.

It is amazing how much stick he gets when he’s arguably our best player and beyond arguably our most important. The whole system is designed around him.

There’s literally no one more important to the team in my view.

He has laid on some great cross field balls to Baldock recently and Baldock really needs to be doing more with them.

I do think Freeman is the more attack minded right wing back and would shoot on site given the chance in those situations.

I know it was League 1 and our promotion season but when Freeman was playing regularly he got 11 goals in 45 games for us. George only has 2 goals in all his appearances so far for us. As we have said often that if we could merge Freeman and Baldock together we would have one amazing right wing back.

But is a poor defender.

Where's this scapegoating the players and team coming from just an opinion and and question sorry if he's your favourite player!
Are we morphing into Premier league fuckwits already?

Well those of you being negative and having a dig at Ollie Norwood, just remember not to complain when he gets suspended for bookings !

You’ll say he should have took a yellow to stop the attacker, but taking yellows every game will lead to a suspension pretty soon..

Lads admitted to the goal, shouldn’t you be praising him instead ?

Norwood is a quality player and often tops the ratings for his position. When he has a bad day, people expect more from him and complain. I'm sure he is just as pissed as the fans when it doesn't work out for him.
All our best players have made mistakes this season. Fans judge them by the standards they usually reach on a regular basis. Serves them right for being too good sometimes. :)
