What does that make for, then? Leonard or Evans playing the Duffy role?

Slightly surprised at the line up. But we’ve been needing something different for a while, and gives the new lads a chance to impress

Ryan Leonard, Lee Evans and James Wilson all make their full debuts for the Blades today at Norwich.

The trio start against the Canaries - John Lundstram, Mark Duffy and Clayton Donaldson make way.

The trio drop to the bench and are joined by Ricky Holmes, who joined the Blades this week. Young goalkeeper Jake Eastwood is also on the bench after Jamal Blackman suffered a groin injury in training.

Blades: Moore, Baldock, Stevens, Fleck, O'Connell, Basham, Clarke, Wilson, Leonard, Stearman, L Evans.
Subs: Lundstram, Sharp, Donaldson, Duffy, Lafferty, Holmes, Eastwood.

Could of course be neither, and a deeper midfielder as a result – i.e like the Bash, Fleck, Coutts midfield three at Hillsborough. You would expect were we having a formation with the Duffy role we’d see either Duffy or Holmes in it.

By the looks of it, Norwich have pretty much the same side out that slogged through the 120 minutes v Chelsea - just one change, Tettey for Vrancic.

Happy with that lineup. Tough on the lads who have been benched but things needed a freshen up and the new lads deserve a chance as well. I think everyone will get a fair crack on the whip.

That bench won't make pleasant reading for the Norwich defence either.

Admittedly I don' know what kind of player Evans is but with no Duffy, Brooks or Holmes in the team I dont see where is the guile and trickery is to break them down.

I'm presuming there will be no one in the Duffy role, but a midfield 3 instead. It might mean we struggle for creativity. We will be more reliant on width.

We badly need to get back on track, although points away at Derby and Villa and an away Cup win at Ipswich aren't to be sneezed at. Norwich have won their last three league games and are third in the current form table (United are 19th) but how will the marathon midweek game at Chelsea affect them? About two-and-a-half days between that game and today's KO. They lost, but that may concentrate their minds - only one target to go for etc.

The latest news from Carrow Road is that on-loan Spurs midfielder Marcus Edwards is out injured, as is Tom Trybull. Marley Watkins 'may' play but Russell Martin, Cameron Jerome and Steven Naismith have all left.

Against all odds, I'm going for a United win.

Hi NorwayBladeKarl. I worked in your neck of the woods (which is Brumunndal) for a couple of years (1976-77) for a farmer in Laerdal, Sognefjord. Gol was as near as I got to your place. I'd love to go back, but bring your bloody prices down! :D

Athletic and powerful eleven with creativity and firepower on the bench for the last half hour.

I suspect Wilder is getting to the point of being satisfied with his squad.

Only left wing back looks weak and lacking cover but Stevens can regain his form and Lafferty is solid.

Would liked to have seen Holmes or Duffy start and maybe Sharp as we need to get the lead in this one to get anything out of it and this looks like a wait and see later team.

Hope I am wrong and we are celebrating 5pm but I am uneasy with that line up.
