Though it's only 8 days since we last played, it seems an age to me, and today represents another big test. Sure, we've been on a poor run of form, and last weeks failure to win was very disappointing, but we may benefit from Norwich's midweek adventures in the cup. That went to penalties and 'hopefully' some of their players are feeling a bit jaded. We need to keep in touch with the teams above us, but a win at Norwich is a big ask...

Anyway...

Any team news? :)

A real chance to slot some of the new boys in today?

After a 0-0 is there a place for Sharp again?

Of the new lads who's a starter?

Clarke and Wilson as starters anyone?

A reverse of the smash and grab at Bramall Lane would be very welcome but history is against us as far as visits to Carrow Road is concerned. However I'm hopeful as ever and have a funny feeling about today's game. A 1-0 Blades win with Clarke the hero again....

We will see. Safe journey folks and sing loud :)

UTB

I think all the new signings will be involved from the start, with maybe the exception of Holmes, but it's who misses out that may surprise us.

I suppose it depends what formation we play, just hope the new lads settle into the team quickly and we bring back 3 points. UTB, Lets be having ya ;)

Fancy us to win comfortably today.

I'll try and answer the OP's questions:

Any team news? :)

No, of course not. Wilder never reveals his hand ahead of a game. We'll find out about an hour before kick off.

A real chance to slot some of the new boys in today?

Yes of course. Your use of the word "slot" is suggestive that you think they will fit in precisely. I hope you're right and I think you probably are.

After a 0-0 is there a place for Sharp again?

Not for me. The reason Sharp hasn't been in the starting 11 in recent games is because he's not played well enough when he has had the chance. So, he'll have to wait to get his chance again. Clarke is the number 1 striker for United and Donaldson has played well alongside him in recent games. I don't think either of those two should take the can for the other 9 players in the team being unable to cross a ball or do anything constructive beyond the 18 yard box, and that's been our problem in recent games. Too much fannying about around the 18 yard box and no-one with the bollocks or gumption to take a pop from range or actually go around their man and drive towards that big white rectangular thing in the middle...what's it called now?

Of the new lads who's a starter?

Really difficult to know the answer to that one but I think a place will be found for Leonard. I'm wondering whether he might give Wilson a debut alongside Clarke as well, and drop Donaldson to the bench? Would be a tad harsh on Donaldson, but that Wilson guy (who some Billy fan called a "Manchester No Mark") looked very handy to me. Depending on how things have shaped up in training this week I'd be tempted to give him a go alongside Clarke. (And if Clarke plays like he has done in the last couple of games then I think he'll find himself on the bench as well pretty soon). I think Lee Evans and Ricky Holmes will be on the bench. I can see Ricky Holmes coming on for Duffy after precisely 1 hour. That's the time Wilder normally takes Duffy off.

Clarke and Wilson as starters anyone?

Already answered!

We badly need to get back on track, although points away at Derby and Villa and an away Cup win at Ipswich aren't to be sneezed at. Norwich have won their last three league games and are third in the current form table (United are 19th) but how will the marathon midweek game at Chelsea affect them? About two-and-a-half days between that game and today's KO. They lost, but that may concentrate their minds - only one target to go for etc.

The latest news from Carrow Road is that on-loan Spurs midfielder Marcus Edwards is out injured, as is Tom Trybull. Marley Watkins 'may' play but Russell Martin, Cameron Jerome and Steven Naismith have all left.

Against all odds, I'm going for a United win.

I reckon Holmes,Leonard and Billy will be in the starting 11 today. 2-1 Blades.

Last week I'd have been happy with a 5-0 win, this week basically down to what happened at the Lane and some of the prickish behaviour of their fans I'd like to see these given a double figure humiliation. Now I know it's a big ask but there are a lot of numbers above 9 so any of those will do. Come on United wreck 'em.

We’ve had some good performances without results this season but today is all about the result ... 3 points desperately needed

2-2 (as per) .... although I have a good feeling about this one.
Despite their knobbing about at The Lane I thought Norwich looked a decent, neat & tidy footballing side (as they did at Chelsea) up until the point they went one up against us. Second half they went all continental on us and unfortunately the ref let them get away with it.
Not to be underestimated just because of the manner in which they took they points off us but I really do have a sneaky feeling it could be our day.

One win in 10 is , well, shit so time for a change. No point in messing about. Put the new lads in and see how it goes.
Wilder has been loyal to the players but as of late they have not delivered. Ok, some may say we have played not too bad and deserved more from recent games but at the end of the day the results have been poor, so lets go with Leonard for Lunny. Holmes for Duffs and Wilson for the Don with Evans coming on later in the game. He who dares?

Think the new lads will play a part and push us on...fancy a Blades win...i'll go 3-1 Blades, back on track.

First hour:

I think CW will be bold and after an hour even bolder:D:D.

Wow! Creativity and firepower.

Fill up our senses:D:D

no idea who's going to play I suspect the starting line-up won't change much but the bench is looking far stronger.

get to ht at 0-0 then use our strong bench against what should a tiring norwich team 2-1 blades.

They have a smallish squad, just lost three players, just played in an energy sapping game in midweek and lost, we have brought in four good footballers, all our player's will be champing at the bit to be playing, got to be a big blades win, ain't felt as confident of a big win since, well last Friday I suppose.1-3.

Lot of confidence on here today, we are playing Norwich you know not Hartlepool?

They are in good form and played Chelsea to a standstill only this week, we have to do more than just turn up to get anything from this one.

We need to score first and preferably early, go behind and it could be a long and chastening day today.

FLYNN???? Think were past him pal??

I think it's going to take a few games to bed in the new signings whilst Norwich seem to have finally clicked under Farking Tit. We'll do well to get anything out of this game. But the best thing about the championship is that it's so unpredictable.

Seriously, you think we will do well to get anything out if today? Maybe I'm just being overly positive or something but I think we are a far better team than Norwich a d o expect us to win with a bit to spare today. I dont think Norwich are all that at all. We shall see i suppose. Blades win today.

Before I saw them against Chelsea, I thought we'd win 3-0.
Changed my mind now to 3-1.

I thought this before playing against Birmingham, Bolton, Fulham, Wednesday, Millwall, Preston, Norwich the first time, Bristol, QPR, Forest... I think that's about it.

Yes, of course I'm serious, I wouldn't have posted it otherwise. If we were a far better team than Norwich then our recent results and performances would have been better.
But as I said, it's the championship and owt can happen.

Norwich are far from anything special, I see no reason why we can't win today. I've seen quite a bit of them and we are a better side, even with our recent form.

i didn't follow any of that, it looks like we are starting with 14 players including ryan flynn, 4 strikers and a keeper on the bench, it's different i suppose
