That's actually not a bad suggestion y'know. Football special chartered flights. Problem would be stopping half way to let folks out for a piss and a smoke I suppose?

Probably no more than an hour's flight, wherever in the UK you are heading. Most people can manage an hour without a fag.

Lots of other clubs' fans regularly fly to see them on regular scheduled domestic flights. Newcastle and Sunderland in particular have loads of flying fans. Presumable Southampton too.

Problem for us is Sheffield's location in the centre of the country means that there aren't any domestic flights from Donny (apart from Belfast, and Jersey). But the small size of the airport means you could easily arrive 30 mins before a domestic flight's departure, and be at your destination half an hour later later. In theory you could be at, say, Exeter or Southampton 90 mins after leavng Sheff city centre.

Problem is most Sheffielders are so skint / tight that I doubt there'd be enough to fill a big plane even at 100 quid return.

Am I correct when I mention a pub called ‘Prince of Wales’? Could swear blind I was in there last season until some mongol decided to set off a smoke grenade. There wasn’t an ‘away fans pub’ per se, we just weren’t allowed in one over the bridge for some reason
Yes Ainsley Harriott
The Prince Of Wales was either the designated or de facto Away Pub & someone did let a smoke bomb (or similar) off in there.
I "covered it" in my Blog at the time

Related to this thread. Back in the day, when I lived in London, I once flew from Heathrow to Newcastle on BA for an away game, as it was much cheaper than the train.

Yes you are correct, bit of a ropey old place but not the worst. The one over the bridge used to be the away fans pub but the landlady was looking for any excuse possible to change that. Ran out of beer one Saturday at 1pm (conveniently) when Leeds were in town and the rest as they say is history.

As I mentioned before, Coach & Horses is a neutral pub and excellent for local ales and food if you get peckish.

I am now decided to go but have decided to use the blades official coach due to train problems first time in a while being on official travel!

Anyone remember the pub landlord in Rotherham some years back who sorted a flight for Miller's to fly to Plymouth for an end of season promotion game?
That didn't end well.

Well got my tickets today and coach travel so I'm excited but now bloody penniless. Wife is going to have a moan but to hell with it . Too late now I'm going

Don’t do it. Unless of course you’re well in to your advanced years and like the sound of silence for 3 hours.

I flew from Bucharest to London for a play off final. Hired a car and drove to Cardif. Got a speeding ticket and we lost 3-0. That was an expensive day out! Cost me more than my season ticket and I have to confess I didn’t really enjoy it!
