Norwegians

Some info on the Norwegians.
Tonne:ca. 185 cm/76 kg, serious sensitive left foot. Scored over 15 goals this season for Strindheim from left back position....very good skills, good pace, good stamina, brilliant passes.
Lokberg:179 cm- 70 kg Pit-Bull like midfielder , needs som muscles, great stamina and a devil to meet for the opposite team. Good skills, good passes-
Both players with U18 - matches for Norway. These lads are ballplayers, not kickers. Goalhungry as well...Think they are going to surprise the club :-)
I´m a good friend of both players since many years

I was wondering what the members of Aha were up to after they split up.

:)

So are you happy with these lads signing Bergs and what do you reckon to their long term chances at the club?

Hopefully Tonne will bring his missus over to sit in the Kop...

Very hard to say, but they are obviously talented young players and I like the idea of the development squad as I think the gap between U18 and first team football is too big. They need more match action than the reserve league can offer though. I think they are going to play quite a few friendlies, like the one vs Leeds on Tuesday. We lost 1-2 against a team that had experienced players like Collins, Naylor, Sam, Paynter and McCormack in the starting line up.

I'm not against the idea of signing and developing young players but as ever, United seem to be going about it in an half-hearted fashion.
As far as I'm aware this supposed new policy of introducing a "Development Squad" has never been mentioned on the official SUFC website.
The signings of the two Norwegian lads has never been mentioned. Is it true with paid £45K each for them?
If so, it seems a lot of money for 2 RESERVE TEAM players who aren't immediately expected to challenge for the first team.
Especially at a time when the FIRST team manager hasn't spent a penny on a transfer fee yet.
How much money did we pay for the two Irish lads? Or do Irish teams just give away their best prospects for free?

Who is the manager of the "Development Squad"? Some people have said it is Pemberton, others think that it's Mark Smith.
Why no mention of the "behind closed doors friendlies" on our official site? No match report, no team listing. Nothing.
Why play the friendlies "behind closed doors" anyway. How much can players truly develop towards Championship football in a training ground kick-around.
The next Reserve team fixture (one of only the SIX remaining this season) is still more than a week away.
Has the lad Philliskirk played in a proper game yet? Will his loan expire before he does?
If they're serious about it, why not put on a "Development Squad" fixture or two at The Lane and allow season ticket holders in for free as a goodwill gesture.

Unless some of these mysteries start to unravel I'll remain convinced that "Development Squad" is Micky Adams way of saying "Reserve team players I didn't sign".

I'd like more knowledge about our plans as well. I think it was set up and planned with Speed though, and the club may await Adams' thoughts about it before going more public with it.

Yes, about the same we paid to have Sun Jihai hanging around for a couple of weeks. Seriously, two youth internationals are surely worth that "gamble".

Finally, some news on the official site about these lads:-

http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10418~2289097,00.html

I see Mark Smith is in charge of their development, not John Pemberton. That will please Flatulent Bob who doesn't rate him!
Surely at the ages of 18-20 they need to be fast-tracked into the First Team if they show any promise at all. Walker and Naughton were that age when they broke through.
