So, what's happening? Saudi Prince joins Sheffield United management (the day after the summer transfer season closes) Sheffield United sell their only decent player and thereby empty the closet on talent, plummet down the third tier of English football, sack their inept manager, appoint a worthy replacement who barely arrests the slide to the bottom and during a pivotal moment of the football calendar, whilst the team hover just above the iniquity of the relegation even lower, the watching public and Sheffield United fanbase wait with baited breath to see what our board will do with the expected financial muscle this middle eastern bauble brings. I mean, McCabe has brought him in for something, yeah? I'm struggling to see what, because since he's come, we have dropped like a snapped-off turd into the bowl without even leaving a ricochet-mark on the porcelain. Is his embarkation with purpose? Are the board about to act? The rate we are still shipping goals and failing dismally to reply is seeing us battling forlornly against the flush the way I see it. So, my question is (and all Blades should be asking this - not excusing it in a dribbling orgasm of optimism) is the Saudi gonna put his money where his mouth is? Supplementary question: If the answer is 'no', what the tapdancing-fuck did we bring him in for?

Clock ticking, McCabe. Just under a week until the fans REALLY start to judge you.

Give em time mate. Got to get rid of the crap first. Rome wasn't built in a day .Every faith in McCabe, Prince and Nigel to sort it all out. UTB.

'Give them time'?

Time, my freind is running out. We don't have the luxury of waiting to see what that clever chap McCabe and his middle eastern buddy will do. Transfer window closes soon, McCabe has had years since we were shat from the ringpiece of the PL and Al Allallallah half a fucking season. Leave Cluff out of this, he has nothing to start with. It's all about the board, McCabe and Al Allalllalalalaalah

Loans still open for a bit after the tranny shuts his window

Wouldn't be surprised if only Brayford and Scougill came in before end of Jan and other changes took place in Feb
Would be surprised if we didn't get more in beyond these two

Brayford and Scougill, you say?

Are they FIFA14 players?

So, no real second-string PL or top end of CL quality to actually 'enhance' rather than 'augment' the squad, yeah?

Please, forgive my cynicism.

Brayford is at Cardiff and was with Clough at Derby - went to Premiership Cardiff for £1.5 million as he was coming to the end of his deal at Rams - not got a look in but highly rated by Clough and others.

............. AND another thing Vic - I'm too bloody old to piss about with FIFA14 or similar - never mind think players are half decent based on what I can do with my thumbs

Still a bit underwhelmed. These are squad players at best, and hardly bring an energising footballing mentality to a team bereft of direction and ability.

Soory fella but if you think Brayford is just a squad player for any club in league one, let alone one at the bottom of the league then you are wrong.

He would be a decent signing for most clubs at the top opf the Championship, Derby fans here are going crazy that he is going to come to us and not back to them!

Rubbish. Have you even seen either of them play?

The only one I can speak for is Brayford who is quite frankly ten times better than any full back we have at the club. I find it incredible that we have managed to persuade him to drop into League One.

If you think we can get a better calibre of player than that in our position then you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

Its not always about money. It's about being at the ass end of league one and being as attractive a proposition to a PL/top end championship player as my ass post vindaloo.

Brayford is a quality signing at this level.

I cannot see how anyone cannot think this unless youhave no idea about him as a player - in which case you probably should not have an opinion on him.

I haven't ventured an opinion on Brayford, I'm just saying what opposition fans think doesn't always count for much.

...football, it's all about opinions isn't it..;: :D

We said this about Baxter. We said it about Murphy. We said it about Flynn. We even said it about Porter.

Some people decide to ignore what Clough said at the start of the JTW...

Clough said that he didn't think the deals would be done until the end of the window. Judge them then

I am sure he said that to cover his back. He wouldn't have forgotten like most on here that we still actually play league games in January too.

Brayford was signed for £1.5 million this summer by a Premiership team. We are at the bottom of the third.. just saying ;)

I have been excited about a couple of them due to potential.

None of them had been one of the players of the year in a team finishing in the top half of the Championship for three years running and got a 7 figure transfer to a Premiership club on the back of it 6 months ago.

Different ball park.

Aside from the bobbins about the new players, there's some borderline offensive shite in that OP.

Do you really think that we can go and persuade a first team player from a Championship or Premiership side to come and play for us, 4th bottom of Division 3??

As these are "squad players at best" please enlighten me as to who you would go and sign for us?

Whilst I agree with much of your original post about the lack of investment and transfer activity - with regards to Baxter, Flynn & Murphy - all 3 have looked good recently. They were outstanding against Bradford and the reason we didn't win that game was a lack of a goalscorer and weak defending & keeping. Those are the areas we need to address.
