Rutty Fountain.
That's put me off my breakfast.
Cover them up dear - that's not a good look.
I haven't ventured an opinion on Brayford, I'm just saying what opposition fans think doesn't always count for much.
But Clough has already stated that he wants to do the major rebuilding in the summer, but you're wanting to spend spend spend now and near enough buy two teams.
Not practicing what you preach??
I’ll be he is. More realistically, I bet he is thinking, now I am in this, how do I get out of it. Or possibly “What? You expect me to spend money on players? Fuck that.” I doubt he is troubled by someone who can’t remember his name without Googling. Which is about the extent of me lampooning his name, by the way. Or were you implying something else? As seems to be much the cut of your jib, the nature of the argument – the given intent of our trusty board in these times of footballing crisis, seems to be smeared over by your need to revert to the ad hominem. Next, you’ll be calling me a cunt and saying I am not allowed to make a comment about our demise because I don’t go every week.
I doubt the Prince will share your pessimism. but who knows, time will eventually reveal the cut of the Prince's jib.
As for calling you a cunt, a bit strong? It never crossed my mind that you were a cunt, so the wish to call you said word never crossed my mind. The same applies to your strange comment about not wanting you to post. Post away, knock yourself out, it makes no difference to me what you do. And as for the Prince? Just refer to him as the Prince, that'll do nicely. Hope that's helped.
So, the recent batch of duds is all down to Weir? I’d counter that the manager approaches the board based upon scouting reports and tables his case for squad augmentation based upon a good sporting judgement. The board approve the purchase based upon this and (hopefully) some advice from other sources. As for replacements, I don’t have the touchline advantage the club has. Certainly, we have seen some decent players from well-less-financially-placed clubs come and go from BDTBL in the past few seasons and some have impressed, even banged in a few key goals against us. Madden, for one example. I am sure there are more. And that is just in the clubs around us. Do they have transfer-triggers in their contracts? Do you know that?
Well summaried, and of course a manager will have to justify each purchase on it's own merits. In a previous post I asked that, instead of saying which positions need filling, you suggest a set of decent replacements. I think that the majority of those who attend matches can identify positions that need strengthening. That's the easy part, finding said replacements will be a vastly different proposition to the punter's pastime of 'Let's Play Manager'.
You may well be right, there may be players at clubs we could approach. No idea who they might be, that's Nigel's job, so I'll leave him to sort this out.
Glad we agree. So, that had nowt to do with Abdullah. But it did McCabe, though. So why allow that to happen? And, given he is a player of obvious ability, why was his contract not re-negotiated when it was obvious … so bloody obvious … he would be an integral part of a midfield setup so badly needed? He was injured last season and his absence was badly missed … even when he came back and was obviously protecting a recurrence of his injury … his style and flair was needed in an area which really counts. And he covered for the standout weaknesses that Doyle possesses. The transfer-trigger was a bomb waiting to go off, and the ticking was ignored.
Can't answer any of the above. Again, you need to send a post to McCabe and ask the very same question. You and I aren't party to contract negotiations, so if a finger needs to be accusingly pointed I suggest you adopt the role of Blades' Prosecutor and give those who are guilty what for. Even if you're wrong (I know, it's unthinkable to even suggest that) it'll be entertaining.
Not really. I didn’t hire Weir. The board rolled the dice with Weir based upon nil past achievements and nil experience as a manager. I won’t break my heart if this naïve gamble failed. I am glad that they had the conkers to sack the inept fool, but I doubt Weir is too broken hearted given his payout –another foible built into his handshake by … the board.
I'll pass on this. It happened, it was a mistake, and no amount of bleating will alter what happened. I agree that Weir was inept, but I doubt he's a fool.
You are Kevin McCabe, and I claim my £5-00 shop voucher. Please, stay away from the personal and stay on topic. The general observation, including all noises from the club, was that Weir was a sound acquisition, with buckets of PL experience, a protégé of Moyes, a former Scottish International … et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Many on here and other sites were, “ … hang on a bit. He’s not that bloody ace, is he? It’s not as though we landed Curbishley, is it?” Nowhere in any posting did I suggest IIYB said 'Great acquisition as a manager?' unless you can point out otherwise.
You're very pushy aren't you? Stay away from the personal? Well stop making accusations that I would call you a cunt, that's personal and not relevant to remaining on topic.
The way you worded your reply it was difficult to determine exactly what your inference was. Taking a little more time to construct a reply will enable problems to be avoided.
Jesus. You act as though Weir’s disasterous stint as boss of Sheffield United was just a passing phase. What do you mean ‘for what it’s worth’? It’s worth twenty-odd places in the third tier of English professional football, our credibility as a major football team with 13-20,000 supporters turning out to see us get penised by laughably poor teams and the indignation of our cross city rivals sniggering at every woeful performance. That’s what it’s worth.
I've touched upon this before, but the self-righteous indignation that you seem incapable of removing from your responses makes responding futile at times. I love the fact that you're worried that a Wendy supporter should castigate you personally. Oh the sleepless nights, oh the health issues brought on by receiving a few harsh words from a supporter of any club. Grow up man, get off your soapbox, it's tiresome, and with the body of work you've put on here so far, where you make sense it gets buried amongst the bile and ill-considered comments that you pass off as fact.
What is the point about Coventry’s Clarke?
Make note; doesn't pay attention.
You'll have to return to this point, I'm not about to spell things out for you. If you're too busy not looking at the blackboard no wonder you have to ask me to repeat.
Isn’t that the whole point of hiring a manger who has the gravitas to attract the better players? The one who can hand a shopping list and prices to the board and say, ‘this is what I need to put us tenth in this league by the end of the season, and this is what I need in the close season to get us automatic’? This is what they cost, and this is the wages and conditions they need to play for us. You make the decision to invest, I take the responsibility for how they play out on the park. Investment costs cash. I was falsely led to believe that the arrival of Abdullah meant exactly that. Now we are in the final throes of the JTW and the team hovers precariously just above the drop zone, it seems we were wrongly led to assume the arrival of Abdullah meant anything of nothing. Unless in the next seven days we sign six or seven decent players.
McCabe was certainly foolish to use language that implied that we're wealthy and life would never be the same again.
Let's both hope that we are away from the relegation zone soon. It probably wasn't necessary to use such a long-winded explanation of how the administrative and coaching sides of the club interact, but I guess you needed to bluntly ram home your point for those who are completely thick about such matters.
So how come you answer almost for him (remember, Cluff isn’t the issue here)?
Even by your standards that's a preposterous suggestion. Not a point worth dignifying, let alone adding weight to by replying. Next point.
Glad we agree, once again.
Next point.
Again, I am delighted you agree with me, although your snippy ‘I’ll take Clough’s judgement over yours’ confuses me somewhat. For the record, I will also take his judgement over mine.
Then we're agreed, that's a relief.
Christ. You’re really scraping the barrel now, aren’t you? Please, stop the ‘you’re a dickhead’ inferrences and concentrate on the topic. ‘Why have we not signed a good collection of players in the JTW’.
I find your assertion puzzling. If I wanted to call you a dickhead I wouldn't disguise my language, I'd come right out and tell you what I think. Maybe it's some kind of fragility on your part, has that crossed your mind? As I've said more than once, I'm not party to any of what happens down at t'Lane, so either send a post or arrange a meeting with McCabe.
Don’t know. What I do know is that Cluff would be pretty bloody foolish (which he isn’t) if the board said ‘here’s some cash to stop us being relegated’ and he said ‘thanks guys, that is tremendously kind, but I have a plan. Disregard the fact that our current crop of chimps can’t hold onto a lead much, but I will persevere with them because I see a glimmer of hope and we can really kick the arses of the upcoming teams currently sat in the upper reaches of this division with the same people.
You're going around in circles about this. Neither you or I know what the reality is regarding Clough's thinking. At least you've posted your concerns and if Clough does look at this forum, you never know, it might act as a catalyst to some kind of monumental last minute transfer activity. The thing is, and I'm happy to be corrected, loans can happen at any time, so presumably this is an ongoing matter and something Clough is aware of.
Nope. Not a fucking clue what you are on about there. You’re a tad incoherent. My point about Blades in my office? It’s in Portsmouth, 225 miles away from Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane. A rich concentration of supporters of a Football League One side currently hovering on the brink of ignomy considering the town has a massive following of Portsmouth, a team relegated last season who resoundingly dicked us at their place last season (posts passim). All three of us ask the question, ‘anything, yet?’ of each other and it is a worrying ‘nope’ all the time. Of course, we now have a £1.5m rated defender, so that’s an upbeat note to email across the office, eh?
Can't say I'm surprised that you struggle to understand. As I said in an earlier post, you really are insistent that other posters agree with you.
Right Tolstoy, if you wish to engage in another bout of football 'War And Peace' I'll leave you to it. Having posted ad nauseum, repeating the same set of wearying opinions, many of which have been posted on here before, and far more interestingly by other posters, I suspect you'll strengthen your soapbox, reword the same message, repeat yourself into exhaustion, until you see a glimmer of agreement with your one-trick pony stance.
Good luck pal, all this energy invested on the Blades while the cost of living is crying out for an injection of something vigorous.....you remind me of those determined religionists who knock on front doors, announce themselves, and find that having declared their set of beliefs, the door is then closed. That's it, you're the equivalent of a Blades Mormon, and no amount of closed doors will convince you otherwise. Good for you Popeye, go to it mate, it's just what we need right now, another absolutist.

Gotta say, todays dealings start to make me believe again.
I'll say. That Konnie Huq bombshell has made my day. Is BP still on Mondays and Thursdays.
WHAT?
As someone who last watched Blue Peter when Val Singleton and Lesley Judd were the "eye candy", she looks about the best thing that's happened to BBC kids telly in 50 years! When's BP on these days?

I'm sorry to disappoint you doubters, but we have now brought in what Clough said that he wanted, a defender, a midfielder and a striker. Moans over?
My mistake, same as before, press click to expand and my answers will be visible.
Eh up Pommps, I thought IIYB made some good points and gave you a bloody good run for your money. Look forward to some more of that if I can trawl through the point scoring bitsOh, can't fucking wait!
No, actually. Can wait. In fact, I'll give it a swerve. I'll wager you don't offer much in debate on the true issue, instead want to bring your planetary intellect to bear in a thinly-veiled trolling exercise against me. Big deal. Much of the stuff you post agrees with my point, and the rest resigns itself to a 'we'll never know/you'll never know' standpoint which smacks of you being placed close to the workings of the club. If he wasn't dead, I'd say you might even be Cluff Snr. Anyway, all the best IIYB. Don't forget to keep contributing to debate on this board should we fail dismally to climb up the league or get relegated again. I'm sure all Bladesmen value your opinion and florid, going-nowhere style..

I wonder who's been closest to it the most?Cough...
Don't make me get the naughty step out on a Friday afternoon, chaps.
There are a few that require that.Given it's title isn't this thread now null and void? Time for the great forum dustbin in the sky if you ask me!
I bet your mum thinks you're warm and wonderful too
Use all the hyper-ventilated terms you like, a self-admitted swerver is akin to holding up a white flag and admitting you're flummoxed (love that word). All the best to you mate, and at the end of the day (most overused cliche it seems) if Clough Jnr takes us forward then all of this will have been for nothing, and the fury behind your pontificating will have been wasted.
