And?

The game will be on, don't worry about that.

how can it be on if no one can get there?

Cos were United. And not being like Weds. We can afford to grit OUTSIDE the ground.....:D

people come from further than the city centre tho i think

People will be able to get there fella. Whilst more snow is forecast, there will still be plenty of time for it to clear to a manageable level.

Perhaps grunters will be complaing that nasty united fans will chuck snowballs at them and complain to the FA to get the game off.

The question is, just how much effort will we put it to ensure the game is on?

The forecast for this afternoon is "sleet".

Doesn't look likely up this way, but you never know. I reckon if the buses are running, the match will be on.

Regardless of what Blackwells said in the press....the loss of Henderson is massive for Saturdays game. I wouldn't mind it being called off to be honest and I imagine some at United will feel the same.

It's not up to the Club, surely - it's more the referee and South Yorkshire Police, I'd have thought.

True.

Although Blackwell can still pray it gets called off. :)

The police called off Wednesday v Barnsley didn't they, and there's more risk for fans for this game than that one. Tuesday night games are better anyway :D

No its not up to the club to make the decision, and your right it will be the ref and SYP that make the decision. But if they wanted, United could quite easily effect their decision. i.e turn of the undersoil heating.....oopps what does this valve do?? oh yeah.....

Its not unheard of for a club to take full advantage of the weather.......

Personally, I'd be quite happy if that were the case, im not the most optimistic person and so delaying the match by a few weeks will increase our chances of bringing another striker in........

Just hope there's a definite decision taken tomorrow, so I don't get up early on saturday for the 3 hour drive and find it's off when I get there....

Had more snow in Newbury today than at the start of the week, mainly gone now but may have more tonight and West Berks is down to it's last few kg of salt so have already given up on gritting all except the key A roads. :(

Ditto! Can't afford to waste petrol so please please please make a decision asap!

I'll be so annoyed if they leave the decision until late as possible on saturday and then it's called off. Won't be able to make a night game unless someone covers for me at work.

The Blades are confident that they can play their part in ensuring that Saturday's Steel City derby goes ahead, despite growing fears that more snow could place the game in danger.

Owing to undersoil heating the pitch is snowfree and playable, but there is concern that a snowfall in the next 24 hours could snarl up the city and affect access to the ground.

Hopefully we can get it sorted to stop the massive snowball fight between the BBC and OCS :)

It'll be fine on Saturday!! If Southampton can expect United to get down there on a Tuesday night after heaviest snowfall we've had in years... then we can expect a few from down the road to turn up too!!

It was quite funny on wednesday watching the local news going on about how Southampton had gone to so much trouble to get the game on, while those nasty northeners from Sheffield had apparently (shock horror!) wanted it called off, and that after the game it was Saints that were wishing they hadn't bothered. :D

You can never tell what someone in 'authority' will decide to do though even if it looks ok, like some councils down here deciding on monday that all schools would shut tuesday, only to find that most of the snow was actually gone and you could travel anywhere - but now no-one with kids could go to work as they had to stay and look after them instead.

Just sitting here hope match will go on, that I can reach Stansted tomorrowmorning, that my coach is capable to reach Sheffield etcetc....but, snow or not, I ll be there and if there s no match I ll come back when this match will be played

Stansted only forecast for sleet tomorrow, so hopefully will be ok. Where I am they now seem to be predicting quite a bit of snow again tonight.

the game will be on, were keepin all major roads and areas in and around the city centre well gritted (yes i work for SCC) so travel to and from game shouldn't be any trouble + i think we've seen the worst of the snow now (hopefully). No doubt the blades will have the pitch in the best state as possible.
