Natalie Pike & Sam Allardyce's podcast - "No Tippy Tappy Football" with Billy Sharp:

I've seen the video....love Sharps honesty....comes across as very competitive...hates losing...a bit like Wilder
Thought the bit about not being allowed to train at the club was very strange.
Surely this is always the manager decision....nothing to do with the board....why would they be bothered?
Normally a manager doesn't even need to speak to the board, they are in control of training and can invite who they want (within reason).

So why would Hecky not want Sharp back on the training pitch? Just speculation

Several possible reasons.
1: Hecky knew Wilder has already been lined up to replace him if he continued to be thrashed every week.
Hecky knows that Sharp is close to Wilder, so Sharp could be like a trojan horse, speaks to players to establish the real situation.
Who the good guys are, who are the bad apples, compare training methods, moral and then report all this back to Wilder.

2: or maybe McCall and/ Lester felt threatened having a potential replacement coach/ assistant manager on the premises.
So Hecky took this on board and thought it best to keep Sharp away from the club, preventing issues before they've started.
So when Sharp rings up wanting to know why he can't train, Hecky tries to say he's being blocked from above.

3: When working on tactics you don't want distractions from non playing staff.
What's the point in involving Sharp in certain playing drills when he's never going to be on the pitch in actual matches.
Also you could have has Sharp accidentally created a division speaking to players about how it used to be when he was a player etc.

Also don't blame Hecky, when you're job is under threat you have to block potential issues before they arise.
Will be interesting to see if Sharp is allowed into training now Wilder is manager.

He'd still need to be covered by the insurance in case of any accidents.

It's the owners club. Everything that happens is his decision, like it or not. The manager can't do "anything he likes" under any circumstances. That's not just United, that's every business in the world

Fair enough....makes sense, thanks.
