Unfortunately we support the craziest team in the league. Trends mean nothing to Sheffield United. We're expected to win we lose. We're expected to go down we get promoted. Been here long?

Indeed, you're dead right. We're expected to go down on record low points we finish 9th. Expected to be comfortable season after and we get this. It's been an amazing last 4 years, see what happens. UTB!

we've been doing it for the 50 years i've been a supporter, not just the last four! Being a Blade is a rollercoaster. Either going up or flirting with relegation. We're never 'middling'. Long may it continue.

I know me too, since around 1971, but the last 4 years has been a bit special to me as it came after such a long low and I'd started to give up on ever seeing us in the top flight again in my lifetime.

Harris and Bassett years were special as well, and it was never dull under Warnock. Promotion from Div 4 was enjoyable in it's own way. Never middling really no.

if you think about it, we only ever finish mid table if we have a miraculous run out of a relegation zone or flop the last ten games after being top :D

And I think you're a pig.. Dude.

This is how the internet works, you see.

Say you're on Virgin Media, for a whole year you get blistering fast uninterrupted speeds, its amazing. You don't complain to them. Why? Well, why would you? Why would you go out of your way to tell them its working as intended and that your enjoying the service?

Now lets flip that. You get 5/7 days of downtime every single week, are you just gonna sit back and say "ah its ok, they'll sort it"? No. You're far more likely to complain/moan/have a go/get pissed off etc.

That also translates pretty well to most sports teams and their fans 👍

Has stayed up after 0 wins in the first 10 games.

This is true.

But "Premier League" is just a name currently used to describe the top tier of English football. It used to be called the first division and in 1990-1 it wasn't until our 17th game that we registered our first win in the top tier of English football. And yet we stayed up comfortably.

I'm not trying to say that we will suddenly turn things around in the same way that we did back then, but that experience shows that although it might be unlikely, it can be done.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm not very concerned about our position. I am very worried and think the odds are against us surviving, but our own history shows it is possible to turn around apparently hopeless positions.

To my mind, the problem is the lack of a crowd. Plain and simple. I don't know why it is affecting us more than other sides, but it is.

All you ever do is complain and moan, and it's predictable. Pig.

we weren't scoring many that season either up until Christmas from what i remember

Absolutely right.

We scored more goals in our first ten matches than we have done this season, but in that 1990-1 season after losing 2-1 to Wimbledon in our 8th game, we went 6 games without scoring a goal.

We broke the drought at Villa Park . Vinnie Jones headed in. Can't remember whether or not it was from a corner or a cross from open play. But the support was excellent that afternoon and it felt like we all sucked the ball into the net. The celebrations were incredible. Any impartial observer parachuted into the away end at that moment would have thought we'd just won the league!

We ended up losing 2-1, but oddly, I left the ground feeling fairly uplifted. We had played well, created quite a few chances and did not look like a relegation threatened side.

Let's hope lightening does strike twice!

There is always a first

True.

I may have got this wrong, but I think we were the first side in the top tier of English football to escape relegation after failing to win any of our first 16 games.

'Escape' might be the wrong word as it was quite comfortable in the end!

Be nice to get to Derby’s points tally. Means we’d see something other than a defeat between now and the end of the season.

Derby County already had 6 points at the same point of their record breaking 11 point season..

I cant actually see us getting a win at all this season.

Something HAS to change.
We could have won three games yesterday with the chances we created. I can see us winning soon.

Supporting sheff United (or any football team) is not like being a customer of your internet provider though is it.
Describing the absolutely incredible journey we’ve had in the last few years as ‘working as intended’ and ‘you don’t complain’ is an absolute joke.

It sounds like you would sit by your router measuring your connection speeds just so you could ring them the second they aren’t at your ‘intended’ level.

We aren’t ‘customers’, we’re supporters and the manager and players in my opinion deserve a lot more support than gets shown on here.

No. It was an example of how the internet works, not a comparison of an internet ISP to a football team.

I literally started with that exact line. 👍
