I think he has given up

As soon as he mentioned the loan window I knew it was curtains for a permanent signing. I do respect that he doesn’t just want some lad from L1 though. As I said on a previous thread we’re going to make do til Jan.

We have been saying we have exhausted the lower league route and snapped up all the best talent there but have we really? Were Evans and Lundstram really the best midfielders in League One when we bought them? I can concede Leonard as he was seen as one of the divisions leading lights but neither Wigan or Oxford fans were devastated to lose Evans and Lundstram.
There are plenty of players in League One who would improve us

We have all said we need Championship quality but it's pretty obvious we can't afford it so the only hope is finding lower league gems or the foriegn market. We are fully against the latter so it's all about the former. To suggest there is nobody in the bottom 2 divisions better than what we have got seems unlikely.

Ageee. Morsy (Wigan) and Ledson (Oxford) were both better players at their respective clubs who would have been better buys. Maybe Morsy wasn’t available but I’m sure we could have got Ledson who is now at Preston.

Who are your suggestions and reasoning?

I can only think of Maddison off the top of my head.
Maddison definitely would.

Upfront from the limited times I've seen them I think the following have more than enough to contribute:
Kayden Jackson (headed for Ipswich), Tom Bradshaw (12 for Barnsley last season), Kieffer Moore, John Marquis, Josh Maja (more one for the future), Brett Pitmam

A lot of the more suitable alternatives have already gone, it's the deadline tomorrow after all and we've been chasing unattainable targets for 3 months...

Sometimes it's not about them being better than what we have, but having a different option would be nice.

There are better alternatives to Enda Stevens and John Lundstram on your average Wednesday night at Goals.

If we don't its a humiliation. If this shower of shit can get these two for 1.75m and we cant even sign any player, joke.

DOUBLE IPSWICH SIGNING
Ipswich
have signed centre-back Toto Nsiala and midflieder Jon Nolan from Shrewsbury Town for a combined fee of £1.75m.
Both players have signed three-year deals with the club having the option of a further 12 months.

Jostein Flo and Roger Nilsson would solve the ST and LB problem hahaha... seriously though why on Earth don’t we dip into the foreign market?? I’m no scout or anything but for example there’s this lad Hilmar Árni Halldórsson playing for Starjnan in Iceland, no nonsense ST who scores goals and has just broken into the national team, he’d cost sweet f all both with fees and wages! Plus fans love a foreign signing!... I do anyway haha

Brett Pitman? I'll let you off and ignore that one..!

John Marquis I have never rated.

Bradshaw and Moore good shouts - although the latter I have seen sparingly so will let others comment further on that.

Who is this Josh Maja fella?

That George Moncur dingle would be decent for us as we are now too.

Struggling at Pitman, not going to lie, just know he scored something like 20 last year and has a lot of championship experience :)

Personally like Marquis

Maja plays for Sunderland, played a bit last year and scored at the weekend. Probably best to see how he develops this year but then it'll probably be too late.

He used the situation with the owners to get an improved deal for him and his team. He could quite possibly be the new puppet for the owners despite claiming he’s ‘not anyone’s boy’.... if there’s one thing the fans don’t like is mixed messages which is what we have been given of late by the man in question.

Correct! But apparently it doesn't kick in just yet.

I dont think Wilder is bluffing. The permanent transfer budget was either 1) not really good enough to really improve us or 2) the goal posts have been moved by our board. I'm sure bids were put in, but they were not high enough and we were knocked back.

Given the Brooks money hasnt been touched (confirmed by Wilder) we can now expect that to disappear into the running of the club rather than getting used for permanent transfers.

There needs to be some really positive moves in the loan market otherwise we are going to struggle this season.

I feel that the fees offered were in the region of what was required but we were unable to match wage requirements.
If this were to be the case all if our major players would have been in the managers office demanding a rise.
I think I am correct in saying that we were in the bottom four of wage budgets in the championship last season and u cannot buy £5 million players for that across the board

If nobody is coming in then he needs to give Lavery another chance at least, the guy has got pace and is a different option.

But we haven't touched the Brooks money yet, surely that wasn't a fib? Next JOC will come down with chicken pox.

I was reight excited for the last couple of days before the deadline. '4 bids', 'not touched the Brooks money' etc.

Very deflating.
Reyt load of wank. Basically writing the season off before it’s properly started.

if we cant sign any player by deadline day, we will bottom 4 all saison long :(
hope there is a deadline day of the previosly 2 saisons with action ... but who will improve us and will be available on our budget?

someone like devante cole in better is what we need ... a young, hungry forward who wants to score goals and play football ... and french n black

I don't understand why we have let our forwards leave until we have replacements lined up. I presume that Wilder was very confident of strengthening but unless we bring in at least one forward (preferably 2) we are left very short.

Don’t be daft what about Clarke and McGoldrick?
