No new striker option

Thought Sharp was pretty good v Norwich to be fair and more than deserved his goal. He was basically upfront on his own. Leon was at least a yard off the pace all afternoon. But then he's a confidence player if ever you'll see one, a goal would change everything for him but we can't afford to wait for if/when that happens with having no alternative.

Starting to get the ominous feeling the 'no new striker option' is like a no deal Brexit, gathering pace.

If we are dropping to our 4/5th choice striker why waste the money now? Maybe the ownership question will be a little clearer come January and maybe funding will put us in a more aggressive position.

With defenses so deep, relying on counter attack speed is no longer the solution. Billy proves whats needed is the intelligence and repetitiveness to take up a position.With Clark and McGoldrick in a three, the midfield has 3 targets to attack with and for the wing backs to run off - another older intelligent striker upgrade might be the solution.

Sorry tincan man, nothing personal, but what on earth are you on about, "With defenses so deep"? Is this a new trend that you've spotted? Defenses are now so deep that we have to completely re-think the way we recruit strikers?

I've not noticed any difference in the depth of defenses tbh. They seem about the same as they've always done to me. Of course you get some teams, usually crap ones, that like to "park the bus", especially if they've sneaked a goal and are trying to see out time. But to suggest that having speed (or pace) in attack is no longer the solution is nonsense old chap. It's always an advantage to have pace in a team and we are more in need of that than another "older, intelligent striker".

Give me a young fast striker who is thick as a brick anyday!

Leon was fine against Norwich. Did you mention Sharp being off the boil when the kettle wasn’t even in the kitchen last season?

No he wasn't. He looked slow and disinterested and didn't read the game very well. He was an improvement over previous games this season - he did a few things well - but he's still way off the pace in terms of his own personal best - or anything resembling a "good" all round performance.

The trouble with Sharp is you don't get much from him if he's not on scoring form. Leon generally gives you a bit more (see Norwich).

Given their combined totals we're blessed to have them. But if we don't seek to replace both imminently, we'll be in all sorts of bother next year.

That’s not fair. Bladey Bill is actually making a real contribution to the team effort. The way he’s playing at the moment perfectly illustrates why he was, quite rightly, left out previously.

Well, I have to admit, I have been critical of Sharp for not doing much in several games last season, although I don't think he could ever be accused of looking disinterested. But he's like a man possessed at the moment and long may it continue. Whereas Clarke looks like a man dispossessed to me!
